Hello everyone,
I have an MSI GP62MVR 7RFX laptop that originally came with 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400 MHz RAM modules (Samsung M471A1K43CB1-CRC). I recently purchased 2x16GB DDR4 2400 MHz BEIQEW modules (model D4X16GM2400C17-CH) to upgrade to 32GB.
The BIOS detects the new RAM modules correctly, but when I try to boot Windows 10, the system fails to start—either freezing, showing a black screen, or restarting continuously.
I suspect the issue is related to RAM compatibility. From what I understand, the new BEIQEW modules are high-density with x16 chips, while my laptop's CPU memory controller expects standard x8 modules like the original Samsung sticks.
I have tried basic troubleshooting steps such as resetting BIOS to optimized defaults, but the problem persists. I am unable to return these modules and would like to know if anyone has successfully used similar high-density x16 16GB RAM sticks on this model or if there are BIOS tweaks, settings adjustments, or workarounds that can help make this upgrade stable.
Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
