RAM Issue

Hello,

The RAM 4x16GB (Corsair CMK64GX4M4C3000C15) I have used in my previous MB from ASUS is not working on this new board. It keeps saying OC Failed on startup.
It only manages to start with default settings but not with XMP at 2133Mhz.
The strange thing is when I remove 2 sticks of ram and leave it with 32GB everything works just fine, I can even overclock it past XMP Specs at 3333mhz, and it's stable. It's just when it has 4 sticks in it.
I did notice the ram is not listed on the compatibility page. However, what i dont get is why 32GB would work and 64GB would not work.

Thank you!
Lars

System Info:

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
Corsair CMK64GX4M4C3000C15 - 4x16GB, V5.39 (All 4 modules are the same from one purchase)

What is the default speed?
XMP @2133? aren't they 3000MHz sticks?

Have you tested 2nd 2x16GB sticks alone?
What command rate they are set?
Have you tried to decrease the mem. freq. by 1-2 level freq. before try with all 4 sticks?

Hello Svet,

Sorry i just see it is very unclear post i made with errors.

The default speed of these ram modules is 2133Mhz without XMP. They are XMP Rated at 3000Mhz.

They are currently running at 2T and i indeed have tried changing frequencies, bit by bit from 2133 to higher. It was working till 2600Mhz and then it started saying OC Failed.
I also tried to increase timings and play around with voltage. Neither helped. As soon as i pulled 2 of the 4 sticks out of the board it all started working fine. including the XMP profile of 3000Mhz and was able to decrease timings. After this i manually OC'd further and managed to get 3333Mhz out of it with slightly higher timings at same voltage 1.35v. However i dont really want to let my other 2 sticks of 16gb each lay around dusting away. This board is pretty known for its OC capabilities including RAM. I dont see how i can not run 4 sticks of each 16GB at atleast 3000Mhz.

I havent tried to put the other 2 in to see if they also work good. I will give that a try.

Hello, sorry for the late reply.

I have tested this week. I tried putting in the other 2 sticks.
They are working identical to the other 2 so at 3333Mhz with same timings.
I tried downgrading the bios version to A10 aswell but sadly that has not changed anything neither.

Thanks.

Try this new BIOS:
Hello Svet,

Thank you for your help so far, I have downloaded and installed the bios update.
It booted fine to windows and so i turned it off again. Inserted the 4 modules and tried starting. Still succesfull.
I then set my XMP and tried again. It was succesfull, I didnt let it boot to windows but went to bios straight away to check if all loaded successfully.
It showed 3000mhz on all 4 sticks. all looking good so far. I then pressed f10 and saved and restarted. Booting went past bios and XMP led was on all looking good. I then entered my bitlocker code.
After this was done it kept staying on the black MSI Logo usually windows will start the circle loading icon here but now it wasnt. I waited over 15mins but nothing happend i then forced a restart and again same thing. After 2 tries it immidiatly went to restore mode of windows, with a big blue screen. showing winload.efi error 0xc0000221. I tried pressing the restore but since it wont boot to windows.
I restarted the PC and tried again, the MB started showing A2 error (IDE ? Sata issues? So i tried disconnecting the SSDs/ and HDDs one by one. sadly nothing helped. reinsterted all and MB kept showing A2. I then tried going into the bios to restore settings and in worse case go back to A20. at this point, i was not able to get into the bios.
The logo and the option was away and it was just stuck forever on black screen. and showing A2. I then forced CMOS Reset on the back of the MB and that helped. It allowed me back into the bios and resetted all my xmp options. I was then able to boot into the windows system succesfully. I turned off again later and today i tried it on again and i again got the a2 error. I again cmos resetted it and again i was able to boot.
I will now on switch back to A20 and see how that goes.
The odd thing was it was able to boot to the RAM with 3000Mhz succesfully on the very first try. It sadly just started doing other problems.

Edit: It is succesfully booting now but everytime i set ram to xmp or 3000mhz manually it says again oc failed.

Hope to hear from you.
Lars

Are your memory sticks in the QVL list for your board?
