RAM RGB shuts off on z390 Godlike when game takes over lighting

I am letting Razer Chroma control my system lighting and quite often when a razer chroma supported game takes over control of the lights, the RAM just shuts off altogether. Last night while playing Halo Infinite this happened twice in a row. Right after starting the game you can see all the system lights change to the Halo lighting scheme and the RAM just shuts off. After seeing the RAM shut off, I closed the game and shut down the PC. After restarting the RAM lights came back on. As soon as I started Halo again the RAM lights shut off and they don't come back on until I totally shut down and restart the PC.

Thanks for the reply, MSI Center has a selection to allow Razer to control all the lights in the MSI Mystic Light system so they should probably know if weird things happen when people use this setting. Totally deflecting this issue to Razer support isn't the right thing in this instance. I am using the setting in MSI Mystic Light to let Razer control my RGB lights. The motherboard should just be taking the RGB settings from Razer Chroma and applying them to my various motherboard lights. Every single other light works perfectly but some games cause the RAM to shut off completely.

And I agree with you. It most likely is not an issue with Razer, and more an issue with MSI Center/Mystic Light. Since I have a Z390 Godlike, a 9900k, and similar RAM, I could try this. Sadly, I haven't had much time lately, and honestly hate RGB with a passion anymore. Nor do I have Halo Infinite to try it out. :/

After the latest Mystic Light update the RAM hasn't shut off when playing Halo Infinite so MSI might have addressed the issue. I will post again if the issue comes back.

You could have mentioned you was using MSI Center and not Razor to control your RGB Devices. That info would have gotten a different reply.

Generally uninstall and reinstall MI centre can fix a lot of problems.

You need Mystic light in order to control any of it and the selection within Mystic Light allows Razer to take over. I don't think it is possible for Razer to control everything out of the box.

The last two times I have started from a cold boot the selection to allow Razer to control the lights doesn't work and I have to go into Mystic Light and toggle the razer selection to get it to take control. This software is buggy to say the least.

Hate RGB should be separate not baked in to hardware or a standard is set and used by all manufactures but that is my personal feeling on it.

Yep MSI centre and Mystic could be better but till there is a standard set most RGB software will have problems.

Thanks for the info, I might have to give that SignalRGB a try. When it works, Mystic Light has been pretty dang good and if it supported more games I would probably just use it to control all my RGB rather than Razer Chroma. Allowing Razer Chroma to control the RGB supports more of my games but has a few issues. It is really a shame that RGB motherboards and components didn't have a more universal control system, it would be great to be able to buy any RGB device and not worry about compatibility. I researched before I bought my parts so everything is compatible, but even being compatible comes with some issues.

In the Mystic Light Settings there is a Third Party RGB selection, it looks like this needs to be on in order for Razer to take control after a cold boot. When this was off I had to toggle the Razer switch after every cold boot. The text for this option was confusing so I didn't know if it should be on or off lol.

I noticed this with previous versions of Mystic Light when after a while of normal use various motherboard lights would shut off and then come back on after a cold boot. I would sometimes run the RBG firmware update utility which would get the lights working again only to start having issues with them shutting off later on.

So you're on Mystic Light 3.0.0.15? Do you also happen to have other RGB control software like Corsair iCue installed?
Have you tried to scan for motherboard LED firmware update by opening MSI Center > Support > Live Update > Advanced?
Btw what's your G.SKILL memory? Can you give detailed module name or share a picture of the memory sticker?
