I am having the same problem with almost the EXACT same system specs. Ripjaw 1600 memory 3x 2gb sticks, i7 930, same mobo, geforce 470 850watt PS with only 1 8 pin connector to mobo (need to buy adapter i guess). All 16 power LEDS light up for the cpu. Tried moving ram around. Tried 1x stick in black slot closest to CPU. Nothing... It used to give the E8 error message, now it just lights up and thats it. I noticed the power button on the mobo/reset button light up when i push them, and the system still turns off if I hold the power button for 3 seconds, so it seems like the mobo is responding. I tried dcing my dvd/rom / HD / pcie1x sound card that came with mobo. Im quickly running out of ideas. Tried the clear cmos button. Tried moving video card around / removing it. Made sure PCIe 6 pin connectors were in card and the one on the mobo.

Well, here is the link to the original thread so people know what I'm talking about. I have the exact same issue with the exact same hardware.

Okay troll-administrator, I will play your game:

When it boots up, it gives the "E8" error message on the 2 digit debug part of my motherboard. My google-fu related that error message to a ram issue. I tried switching the ram to the black slot(s), then just using 1 stick of ram in the black slot as suggested in the aforementioned thread. After that, I don't get any error message at all. The video card fan is on full tilt while its powered up, so it seems like a motherboard issue. But it could be ram, cpu, or power supply I guess. Any one of those components could cause the motherboard to not post. I will say though that the lights on the top right of the mobo nearest the ram that indicate if the CPU is getting enough power are 16/16, so I doubt power supply. I also removed the cpu and inspected it / the slot to see if there were any bent pins, all perfect. I am using a water cooler in a closed loop, so I guess it could be non functioning since its quieter than everything else in my system and I can't open it to see how much fluid is in it. But I doubt that also since I kept feeling around the cpu / bottom of mobo to see if it was insanely hot, and it never got above luke-warm.

Okay, you require bullet points? Here:

Im not sure what information you are asking me for. Ive included all the components that are relevant in that posting guide you have spammed. If you're asking for hard drive / OS, those are irrelevant since its not even posting to the bios. I DCed the hard drive anyways; one less component I have to worry about ruling out. Ive said that my computer is not posting to the bios. Im not sure if you were implying that I hadn't asked an actual question, but I think its crystal clear that I want my new computer to post to the bios and beyond.

Oh, and I dont believe I have openly insulted you. I feel like I'm returning the same attitude that you are giving me. So in my opinion, its appropriate. That being said, I would like no more of this on either end if at all possible, because I actually want my problem solved so I don't have to try to RMA every component I cant test individually. So, truce?

Has the system ever worked?

-850watt PS with only 1 8 pin connector to mobo (need to buy adapter i guess).

Make/model? Specs?

Which connector is the single 8pin connector plugged to, JPWR2 or JPWR3?

It used to give the E8 error message
My google-fu related that error message to a ram issue
-Ripjaw 1600 memory 3x 2gb sticks

Test a stick of non-factory-overclocked/genuine DDR3-1066 memory.  The memory controller of the processor natively supports DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 memory only (according to Intel Specifications). If this is really boils down to a memory compatibility issue then it is most likely related to the factory overclocked ripjaw modules you are using.

The troll under the bridge says take a holiday for 5 days. Name calling and disrespect such as that will not be tolerated.

Not sure if the OP went on vacation but...

- I only needed one 8 pin CPU power in JPWR2 for my Big Bang Xpower.  A second is not needed unless you plan to massively overclock your system to the point where the CPU needs more power.  I'm slightly overclocking now, i7-930 2.8 GHz to 3.2 GHz, without any trouble.  My power supply is only a Corsair VX550W.
- My EVGA NVidia GT240 graphics card's fan ran at full speed until I installed the NVidia drivers.  NVidia's driver throttles the fan based on GPU temperature.  (Prior to installing the NVidia driver, I almost thought I had to return the graphics card and buy a passive heat sink one.  It was pretty loud!)
- I'm using 1600 MHz Mushkin DDR3 memory.  When the system initially came up, it was running at 1066 MHz.  I had to manual set the memory multiplier.
