I have the MSW-8340 Dragonwriter. I know all MSI CD-RW's era not the same. I know of at least two manufactures.
I got mine to work with the following changes.
1st, I flashed to the latest BIOS. This will be different depending on which board you own.
2nd, I upgraded to the latest 4 in 1 drivers.
3rd, I disabled the S.M.A.R.T. function for the hard drive.
After that I was able to burn full disks. They were read by all my players, including the one in my car.
At times I still get the 4 & 40 options only, but if you open the tray it should give back the options. Select the one you want and close the tray.
I did all of this at once, so I don't know exactly which one did the fix. I would suggest doing them one at a time to see which one works. Start simple.
Hope this has helped, good luck.
