Read This!!! MSI CD-RW's

I have the MSW-8340 Dragonwriter. I know all MSI CD-RW's era not the same. I know of at least two manufactures.

I got mine to work with the following changes.

1st, I flashed to the latest BIOS. This will be different depending on which board you own.

2nd, I upgraded to the latest 4 in 1 drivers.

3rd, I disabled the S.M.A.R.T. function for the hard drive.

After that I was able to burn full disks. They were read by all my players, including the one in my car.

At times I still get the 4 & 40 options only, but if you open the tray it should give back the options. Select the one you want and close the tray.

I did all of this at once, so I don't know exactly which one did the fix. I would suggest doing them one at a time to see which one works. Start simple.

Also, if you are not sure which oem manufactur made your cd-rw, check out this link. With a little reading you can find out which oem made your drive.
