i was having some issues with graphics driver corruption so i reformatted

ever since then if i turn on hardware audio in games (3d audio) then my computer reboots

ive tried diff drivers, reinstall directx and nothing works, is ther any kind of fix for this or should i just go get a SB audigy?

well from what ive seen lots are having troubles with Audiologys .. then again i expect theres lots that arent .. so getting the audiology would probably be a bit of a gamble as some seem to work and some dont .. if on a budget and u dont like the onboard sound then as Gutter says i can recommend the Hercules cards as they are simple to install and run well with low frames hits on games .. they are also a lot cheaper than creative products @ similar specs

its not that i dont like the onboard audio, it worked great, but if i cant use 3d sound cause it causes my computer to reboot then i dont like it, it started after i reformatted so i dont know the cause, but im prettysure this is not a hardware issue

the game im playing is AA, used to play with eax but now its software

is there a different driver i could use besides the ones on disc or site (which are same ones) or is there some setting that may cause this
i dont want to RMA my mobo for a second time because i hate waiting for stuff and i hate taking all the junk off my motherboard

dont think u will get new drivers .. ur best bet would be to uninstall the current drivers and software from realtek .. and reboot reinstall in the hope that windows puts everything on it needs

Hi

what version of Realtek are you using, I downloaded from I know not where, RTL8169AMD64, it appears to be working, sounds good. There was a Nvidea driver NVsound I noticed loading, short of a reformat I can't gauranteee whats on here. All works though.

Try drive magic for better drivers, some of the custom non MS work well

good luck

hmm, ill give those a shot, im thinking about clearing cmos see if that helps i highly doubt it but at this point im willing to try any thing

since i am having so much trouble with onboard audio, and the rest of these guys seem to have even more trouble with sound blaster audigy's, what would be a good sound card to buy with EAX support that is not some off brand POS

well there is a thread already about known working sound cards .. cant comment on other brands really i just know the Hercules Fortissmo III 7.1 / Digifire 7.1 both work and are game friendly when it comes to frame rates

7.1 is that the channels, cause im a cheapie  high school job car payment and insurance i dont have much to just spend on sound cards :)

thanks for input tho
