Hi, I am trying to change the refresh rate of my MSI G241 monitor to 120Hz/144Hz, but the screen goes black after doing so. I tried doing so from Display settings and also from within Nvidia control panel, but it does not work.
Works fine with 60Hz
I am using RTX 3060 GPU and a DP cable
Any help will be appreciated!

first thing to try is Remove your Graphics Driver using DDU in safe mode https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html then Reinstall your driver for your GPU.

check the list here https://www.displayport.org/product-category/cables-adaptors/ and see if yours is even there as not all display port cables are made equal and alot may work but not fully which may be what your experiencing.
Certainly my DP cable is not there in the list.
I will try a new cable soon from the certified list here - https://www.displayport.org/product-category/cables-adaptors.
But shouldn't it at least support 120Hz on HDMI? I have tried 3 HDMI cables but all of them does the same thing which it does for a DP cable.

For test purpose tick "Use NVIDIA color settings"
then set it to "YCbCr422" to relax the bandwidth,
then try again to set high Hz.

Sorry, still doesn't work.... could it be a GPU problem? I don't have another 144hz monitor to test if it is a monitor problem....
Just updated to GPU driver to 517.48 but still issue remains.
Please note if I select custom resolution and then change the screen refresh to 110 Hz or any other value it shows the screen but flickers at the top

Could be some compatibility issue with that GPU, what GPU brand and model is this?
Can you test the monitor in another PC/GPU?
Have you tried to reset the monitor to factory defaults and try again?

Also check for possible monitor firmware update with MSI here:
