Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased a second hand 99FXA-GD80 motherboard, which unfortunately came without the I/O shield. (Background - I have an existing PC with A gigabyte Mobo which has been great for a number of years, tried to upgrade to WIN11 (with workarounds of course) and get stuck because my current processor (4 core Phenom Black Ed) couldn't handle SSE 4.2 so I purchased an FX8350 which fits the same AM3+ socket, and can handle SSE 4.2 for WIN11...however, my existing Gigabyte Mobo is unable to handle the VRM requirements of the FX8350....so I went on the hunt for the 990FXA-GD80......to save a really well performing PC from the WIN11 scrapheap.....only to find I now need to source the missing i/o shield.
I have tried MSI helpdesk but they were unable to help without a serial number (board still on its way to me so don't have it) and indicated it was an old board etc etc.....so an I/O shield is unlikely to be obtainable....
I have located an aftermarket I/O shield part in China, but unsure of whether a) it will fit b) whether I'd be happy to wait 4 weeks + delivery
If anyone can give me any ideas on where I may be able to source in the UK or someone has one at a reasonable price somewhere in a drawer...lol......I'd be chuffed.
Thanks all.
