Hi everyone,
My new B550 Gaming plus motherboard arrived yesterday and everything works fine except for the RGB on the chipset. It won't turn on and won't let me control it from Mystic Light. I get a message that says: "The mainboard's LED firmware is abnormal. Please get into Support-Live Update and click Advanced to scan and update MB LED FW".
I searched the forum for information, and found this post.

Unfortunately it didn't work, although I don't quite know from the first posts what I was looking for. So I just uninstall Dragon Center (with folders), reset Bios, and reinstall. And nothing.
If someone knows how to do it or can guide me a little, it will be of great help.
I copy the information of my system, in case it helps

Product Name: MPG B550 GAMING PLUS
OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro 64 bits Ver.2009 (OS build 22000.469)
BIOS Version: 1.80
BIOS Release Date: 12/30/2021
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 16 GB @
- 16 GB DDR4-3200, A-DATA Technology
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 0 MB

I hope someone can help me, thank you very much

The mainboard supports MSI Center for LED setting, please install MSI Center v. 1.0.38.0 from: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-B550-GAMING-PLUS/support#down-driver&Win10 64
Please refer to the thread for how to uninstall and reinstall MSI Center with MSI Center/Dragon Center Removal Tool
And get into MSI Center > Support > Advanced Update to check whether there's MB LED FW update available.

If the issue persists after LED FW update, suggest follow the description in the link to reset MB's FW by shorting JT1 pin (2 pin from the right) with a pen for 5 seconds and check: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?...e-–-msi-center-bug-status.362779/post-2063123

Hi! Thank you for the ansawer! :D
I followed all the steps but it doesn't work. I'm upgrading but my motherboard isn't there, and I don't know if it would work with one of the same chipset. I have the B550 Gaming Plus, and the one that most closely resembles it is the Gaming Carbon Wifi.
I searched the MSI website but I did not find that Firmware. And if I try to talk to someone from technical support, it sends me back to the forum :((
So I need to check if it works here :(

I'm not going to upgrade until I'm sure I'm not going to damage the board.

(A question, do I have to do the Shorting with the PC on or off? I did it off and unconnected... Maybe this was wrong)

Is all ways safer to short with power off then with it on but sometimes the short is a reset function that need power. but I would like it to be elaborated on if on or off before you try it with power on

:'( I'll cry :'(
Frag no wonder I won't touch RGB
Humm not sure really
Except to try again uninstall MSI center run uninstall tool for MSI centre. Power off turn off RGB and short teh pin turn RGB back on and power up and install the Firmware in the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/171FACpyqEcnJPg8uEFULhqVG_Y3hVkOG/view?usp=sharing then reinstall MSi center cross fingers and curse who ever decided RGB was a good thing

MPG B550 GAMING PLUS can't use the LED firmware which belongs to B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi, these two MB are different model.
If there's no LED firmware in MSI Center > Support > Advanced Update, it means the MB has no LED firmware available.
If the above workaround after uninstall and reinstall MSI Center, shorting JT1 pin doesn't help, may be sth went wrong with the MB's LED firmware.

Nothing... It says there is nothing to update.
I have contacted MSI support through Amazon. To see what they say. I have passed the link to the forum as well, in case they want to leave the answer here for others.
If it doesn't work, I'll have to return it :(
Thank you very much for your patience and support <3 <3 <3

I have the same problem on MAG B550 Gaming Edge WIFI. G.Skill Trident Z RGB loses setting on every boot. I have the Phanteks P400a Digital - all fans controlled by Mystic Light; the motherboard LEDs ok; the Gigabyte RX5600XT doing its own thing; but the RAM goes to default rainbow instead of steady red. Very frustrating, given that Mystic Light recognizes the RAM, and can theoretically control it. Until the next start. Also, it would be handy to have a brightness control when all LED items - DRAM, GPU, MB, case fans -are linked. Mystic Light will be the reason I never buy another MSI MB... didn't have this problem with a Gigabyte Z270 MB before this one. Simple, stand-alone LED software, or Mystic Light THAT WORKS. Have a nice day

I had the same problem and tried every fix I could find with no success, then for other reasons I decided to go back to windows 10. (this was a clean install because I was past the rollback point) I installed the MSI center, checked for updates and it just worked. maybe this isn't the solution you were hoping for, but I figured it's worth putting this up here for those who aren't attached to windows 11.

What I tried that didn't work:
- uninstalled reinstalled MSI center
- used MSI uninstaller tool to remove MSI center and SDK then reinstalled
- Jumped JT1 pins on motherboard (with power off)
- Installed Dragon center instead of MSI center
- removed all additional RGB fans and only plugged in 1
- updated motherboard BIOS
- Drained power from the motherboard, removed 2032 battery, and cleared CMOS
- Purchased Cooler master ARGB controller (my plan at this point was to give up on using the motherboard, just thought it was worth noting this didn't fix Jrainbow either)

My build:
Motherboard: MPG X570 Gaming Plus
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X 8 core
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 32gb
OS: windows 10 home 64 bit (used to be 11 home)
Video: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 10gb

I have been experiencing the same issue with the LED firmware abnormal and finally fixed it, In google search (led firmware abnormal msi) when you scroll down you will see (https://www.partitionwizard.com/clone-disk/msi-mystic-light-not-working.html and if you read and follow what to do, it may work for you. I have a msi b550 A Pro and the update crap has been driving me crazy, but once i did this, everything works now, las thing use method 2 since the update crap doesnt work.

Just built my first PC and everything is running smoothly.
I'm using the MSI Z790 Pro - A DDR4 MB.
So the RGB on my ram is addressable and working fine, I can change it however I like. However my AIO (Deepcool LS720) is not- the RGB is on but its always either purple or green, and it doesn't let me change it.
When I open up mystic light I get this:
1667278802603.png

But in the advanced scan and normal scan there is no FW available.
I tried Dragon Center as well, uninstalled, reinstalled everything, tried a different ARGB connector on the MB itself- but nothing works.

My case fan RGB is daisychained to my AIO rgb, and when the AIO is green the RGB of my fans is too. But right now my AIO is PURPLE and the fans are not lit up at all. 😭 wtf man

I also tried plugging the case fan's RGB cord into the MB JARGB 3 pin connector so they're not daisychained, but then they dont light up at all. Just like when they're daisychained to the AIO with purple light

I'm wondering if its just because the MB is so new that they didn't release the firmware for the updated LED control.... but IDK! I tried it all and Im a little tired of opening up my pc and fiddling with it 4 times a day.

Any ideas?
Thank u <3

Hi I will ask for it to be added
In the meantime can you provide build details
Remove any ARGB connected to Motherboard RGB headers.
Power down system and unplug PSU wait 3 to 5 minutes and power back-up without connecting the RGB Stuff to Motherboard.
Check LED firmware status to see if it normal again.
I need you to fully list all your hardware please
Make and Model part number if known
Can you also Run MSI Log Tool and attach the report to you Reply
