speaks crowd, enjoying the question here, how do some light root in 81 primo msi with android 4.4? all methods that I used did not work.

And one more favor, does anyone have the original rom it, because it seems that this 4.4 does not support the 3g modem.

and hopefully paid until the author a beer for ...

I would like to know about this subject: How to root in primo 81 with android 4.4.
Android 4.4 apparently does not support SD card or file manager 3rd party apps....
In order to work these apps the right device needs to be rooted.
Please,  :worship: please give us an up-date if anybody knows how. This device could be better than ever !!!  even if it doesn't have bluetooth :-P)

Ignore the below. It looks like I didn't get root ... though the idea may help someone.

DANGER DANGER. This worked for me, but if you wipe your tablet ... it isn't my fault!  Also. The 4.4 firmware doesn't have the "su" binary. So I don't know what all I should be doing to fix that part. I'll probably bug ArcTablet.com and see if they can make a better firmware for this tablet.

You can root by using the A31 root .zip file listed at ...
Use Google to search for " arctablet A31 Onda_Allwinner_A31_root_v1_0.zip " ... you should get the webpage at ArcTablet to root Allwinner A31 based tablets.

Put the .zip file mentioned at arctablet into the / filesystem. The MSI tablet doesn't have an "update" app, therefore you go into the "Backup & reset" menu option of Settings. From there select "Recovery Mode" and reboot into Recovery Mode. In recovery mode you will use the volume keys and the power button to move up and down and select stuff.

You should select that your update is in the internal storage. And then select the .zip file to update.

This gave me root. Not that it helped what I was looking for ... the 4.4 ROM seems to not have the S3C usb driver. Basically the OTG cable works for storage devices. But not for a USB keyboard and mouse.

Hi guys,

I too experienced the problem with not being able to root, specifically that Cydia Impactor would not run. But the following worked for me so hopefully it'll work for you:

All you need to do is download the newest firmware from the MSI website (Search for the MSI product page for the Primo 81, :welcome: then go to the "Support" tab UNDER the image of the tablet, select Firmware, Android 4.4 and download) and install it. It will come with two installer packages and a disk image. Install from the file ending in EN (this one is English; the other is Chinese) to install the PhoenixSuit installer. Go to your device settings and select "USB debugging" under Developer options. If developer options isn't available, go to "About tablet" and repeatedly tap the "Build number" section. Eventually it will appear in the sidebar. When you first connect to your computer, swipe down from the top of the screen on the left side to pull down task manager and you'll see "Connected as USB" or something (NOT "USB Debugging connected"). Click on this, and make sure "Camera (PTP)" is the only one checked. Now when you open PhoenixSuit (remember to approve all its driver installations!) it should recognize your device. Go to the firmware tab and select the disk image file that came in the download, and it will flash the firmware on your device. It's a relatively quick process.

Once your firmware is updated, the Cydia Impactor should recognize the Primo 81 and allow you to root it.

I gave up using Cydia Impactor.  I looked at the site in Russia, because MSI Primo81 is popular there.
And I found how to root Android 4.4 - Primo81 without Cydia Impactor.

It is an ordinary method of recovery, using Root_Onda_4.4.?2_V4.4_LZ.zip .

By Google search, it will be displayed as " Root_Onda_4.4.2_V4.4_LZ.zip. - yadi.sk ".

ONDA and MSI Primo, although the file name is different, but you do not need to be worried.

I clicked on  Apk-icon,and Recovery-icon of PhoenixSuit, and in recovery mode,
I sent zip to microsd card and updated Primo81. And it was rooted after the reboot.

I connected it with Internet and clicked on SuperSU.
Then, SuperSU-binary was updated automatically.
And it changed from the Russian display to my native language.

After firmware update of Primo81,Cydia Impactor issued the error...I was troubled.
However, I am using Primo81 comfortably by this old and easy root-taking method.

Pretty much what the poster said;

1.) Download Phoenix Suit from the support page.
2.) Run Phoenix Suit
3.) Plug-in Device
4.) move the Root_Onda_4.4.?2_V4.4_LZ.zip to device (drag and drop it into folder).
5.) select APK icon and click "Recovery Mode"
6.) Once device reboots; select "Apply updates from internal storage" (displayed on the device).
7.) use the "-"/"+" and power button to select Root_Onda_4.4.?2_V4.4_LZ.zip.
