RT Trigger “Input Chattering” issue after update

Hi,

After updating my MSI Claw 8 AI+ to BIOS 2.0.2509.1201, EC Firmware 2.23, and MSI Center M 2.0.2509.12.01, my Right Trigger (RT) started having serious input chattering issues.

When I hold RT, it doesn’t stay stable — it rapidly flickers between 0 → 100 → 0 → 100% nonstop.
I confirmed this using hardwaretester.com/gamepad, not MSI Center M.

I’ve tried:
  • Recalibration
  • EC reset (power 15s)
  • Reinstalling HID drivers
→ None of these fixed it.

Interestingly, when I downgraded MSI Center M to v2.0.2507.2801, the problem disappeared completely — but that older version still has other bugs that were fixed in the new release.

So I’d like to ask MSI and the handheld community:
👉 Is there a way to stay on the latest BIOS/firmware without triggering this RT input chattering issue?
Any workaround or patch would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

For EC reset, you should remove the charger and shutdown the Claw > long press the power button for over 25 seconds > reconnect the charger and power it on
I've tried already but It's still issue. I found the cause, which made RT bug. It's "key mapping". After I clicked Key mapping, It happen. I tried set it to default but couldn't fix. ::((

I’ve found the cause and fixed the issue.
It was due to a key mapping profile conflict — every time I updated and opened the macro setup, the RT trigger started chattering even after resetting to default.
I used MSI Center M Cleaner to completely remove MSI Center M, then manually deleted all leftover MSI folders in both AppData and LocalAppData.
After reinstalling the latest version, the RT trigger issue was gone.
Seems the mapping profile from older versions was conflicting with the new firmware.

Hi Nizmoboy, I had solved that issue. Just croll upper to see!

Still having this issue sadly with my RT and this fix isn’t working

I’ve found that downgrading the version of MSI Center M, and then upgrading through there works - but then breaks the dpad
Hi Oma. I think you need to uninstall the current MSI Center M and MSI SDK. Then delete the MSI folders in AppData, LocalAppData, and Program Files. After that, restart your system, downgrade MSI Center M to an earlier version, and check all D-Pad buttons.

If the issue is fixed, you can then upgrade to the newer version of MSI Center M and recheck.

Hi I have the same issue, Yesterday my MSI CLAW updated with the new Full Screen Xperience feature.
I have been doing this steps but I can't manage to fix it.
Maybe I need tho open a RMA?
Someone with the same issue?

Hello, I also have this issue with my Claw 8 AI+. I've done all the suggested steps here - clean reinstall of MSI Center M, EC reset, full factory reset, etc. However, the calibration process just doesn't work for me at all, it stays stuck on Horizontal Calibration infinitely and never moves past that step. Really hoping MSI can't provide some kind of solution as I'm otherwise going to have to return the device.

  1. What worked for me is the following:
1. Uninstall MSI Center M software using MSI Uninstaller: https://www.msi.com/faq/faq-10185
2. Restart
3. Reinstall older MSI Center M Software: https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/nb...er_1.0.2412.1201_1.0.2412.1201_0x8202c08a.zip
(I know this is for A1M rather than Claw AI 8, but they removed the old version from the Claw 8 page, this should be fine)
4. Open the version of MSI Center M you just installed and run updates
5. Triggers should work fine

Okay, I'll try this - the only thing I haven't tried was indeed installing an older version of MSI Center M (since I didn't know where to get an older version, plus when I factory reset the device it did seem to default to an older version but still didn't fix it so I assumed that was the equivalent of independently installing an older version, but maybe not), thanks for the link!

Okay, so it worked and my right trigger is now working normally, BUT I had to add some extra steps between 3 and 4 to get it to work. Updating directly in the old MSI Center M brought the issue back, but running the MSI uninstaller again (after installing the old version), restarting, and reinstalling from the Claw 8 AI+ driver download for the latest version did finally work. So for anyone else with this issue, what finally worked for me was:
