RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio 24G Artifacts and Driver Crashes

My (Second, first one died after 2 months with an expensive $100 rma (shipping)) RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio is having very strange driver crashes during video gaming and it even happened earlier today without anything running in Windows. Basically, the screen will freeze and there will be some discoloration (either in the form of terminal character sized randomly place pinking (random) artifacts or reddish artifacts that litter across the screen in a more organic pattern.



I am not sure how to fix it and would apricate some suggestions.
I have already done a clean reinstall of the NVidia drivers and the issue still occurred

In addition, so far there have been 2 blue screen errors.

In addition, the last few times it happened, the screen went completely black and the computer needed to be reset.

would not compare to that post as they is yet to produce actual screenshots so hard to say what is going on

Run GPU-Z and run logging in the background you mainly want to look at V-Ram temps see if they getting to hot just let the log run for as long as you on the PC or till you get a crash then check the logs for temps and such

Also list you Build parts and type of cooling even a couple of pick of the inside of the case can help

AMD Threadripper 1950x, Asrock Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming, 128 GB memory, Thedermaltake Core X9 Snow Edition.

I also have fans set up to blow air out of the case based on the gpu hotspot temp with a very aggressive curve.

As for the crashes, they have even happened when there was no game running.

CPU is liquid cooled with a corsair iCue H150i

Well, this time, it crashed during on the main menu just moments after crashing earlier. Also, soon after, it did another BSOD.

Attached is the sensor log.

As for the artifacts, what happens is that terminal character sized artifacts appear on the screen. They are generally a redish purple with random colors in the mix.

Well, it crashed once more with another BSOD. Still not fast enough to catch the artifacts before they go away.

Look like you had a full GPU drop on the 12v that may be causing the problem you will need to keep logging to see if it happens again

Everything else looks good though in the logs. could that Vram is on the way out if your getting artefacts.

I stripe back the log to make it easier to see just turn of word wrap in notepad

yea, I have a feeling that there just isn't information being logged there due to it crashing. Each connection is connected to a separate cable on the PSU. This is very annoying cause this will be RMA 2. I have been very disappointed with my purchase.

Here is another set of logs (hwinfo and gpuz) that I left running last night with FurMark running. Based on the logs, the card crashed at about 3:01 am.

Ran a VRAM test with OCCT and after 7 minutes the driver crashed and then it started reporting vram errors.

So is a Vram problem then looks like it is getting quite tosty as well is still in speck but not by much.

May be time to RMA all over again as that a lot of errors in 3D test

Yea, I called MSI today and started the RMA. Ended up putting a MSI RX 580 in for the interium...

Wanted to make an update. I got my replacement card back a little over a week ago and just now put it back in. So far it is working (no errors with stress testing) and I will keep an eye on it.

Only issue I have now is that I am unable to enable Resizable Bar. I have verified that it is enabled in the Motherboard Bios and even updated the bios to the latest version however, GPU-Z claims that it is not enabled in the bios. GPU Bios version is 94.02.42.00.F1.

This is with a new CPU and Motherboard:
ASUS Prime Z690-P D4
Intel Core i9-12900K
128 GB memory (3600 mhz)

Disregard. I was able to fix by doing Advanced Live Update (Support) and when I ran the advanced scan, it detected that my vbios needed an update.

After running the update and restarting, Resizable Bar was enabled.

I dont get why you guys want to enable this resizable bar with a working card , vbios update its very dangerous, not like a motherboard bios...also thinking that you have a +2000€ piece of hardware I will not mess with updating his vbios for what ?? a 3% more performance ?? no way
MB are other world, they cost around 300€ and are easy and safest to update not like that GPU....

That is a fair point. I wouldn't have bothered with updating if it wasn't offered directly through Dragon Center...

Well it would be pointless dodin it with a non working card and there are some good reasons to update the VBios as Nvidia or AMD don't always get it correct the first time
And if you Paid that much for a 3070 you got fleeced
