hello I have a question and at the same time a problem, yesterday I updated the nvidia driver to the latest version, I noticed that the video card makes a hum when browsing YouTube or other applications or even when I move the mouse (I assume coilwhine), before it didn't do that, I also tried another simple older driver with the same problem, has anyone else had idle problems with this, I don't think it's normal. can a full reinstallation of windows fix this, I'm waiting for your answers thanks!

Are you sure that you were hearing coil whine? Was it a high-pitched buzzing sound?
Coil whine is a physical vibration of the hardware components and it cannot be fixed by reinstalling driver.
Could you record the sound and share it here?
Or testing with other PSU (850W+) since it might help to reduce the coil whine.

it's definitely from the gpu because the same sound also appears in games, plus that's why I listened to where the sound is coming from, and yes it comes from the gpu. I tried to record it but I don't have anything high-performance to record with and that's why it's not really heard.

What is your monitor model and make, High refresh rate monitors can cause the problem try setting a lower refresh rate

alianware 360hz, I also limited it to 60hz for nothing, but why would I limit this, it wouldn't be in my favor in games

Try another PSU, or another outlet.
If you use any power strips or surge protectors remove them.

Does this means it worked fine with older GPU drivers?

If it's the same as my 5090 (hard to really tell from the video), it's coil whine.

I had my 5090 and didn't notice it but after a while it started to do it, scrolling reddit, opening start menu and moving mouse and a good way to hear it is to power down and on the pc.
When powering on/off, the gpu makes the noise quite clearly.

I undervolted my gpu and it helped a ton, it's something i don't believe was there from the start, i do think drivers can have some effect on it but i don't really hear it now with the undervolt anyway.

You could try put a undervolt of 0.9v, don't worry about core clock or anything at this point (This will nerf performance like this) - simply to test if it helps the noise is all, if it does, then you can decide if you want to fine tune an undervolt or not.

Încearcă o altă sursă de alimentare sau o altă priză.
Dacă folosiți prelungitoare sau dispozitive de protecție la supratensiune, scoateți-le.

Înseamnă asta că a funcționat bine și cu drivere GPU mai vechi?

I had a tapo device to measure the consumption, I took it out, I put it in another socket in the room, nothing, I reinstalled everything after reinstalling windows, nothing to solve this, I think something is irregular with the drivers or nush, it's strange you pay so much 1700e and it does this

in principle it doesn't bother me, but Christia is that you pay so much and it does this, I tried to stop and start, you're right, it can be heard when it stops and when it starts, plus it also does this in games, bankmarks, it's crazy to have coilwhine, I set the bios to gaming poste and that's one reason, but also on silent the same thing what source are you using?

Yeah, i'm not happy with the state of hardware and QC at all but what can you do at this point:

I use a Seasonic TX-1600, which helped a little vs my old rm1200x shift corsair psu.

I run my 5090 in silent mode. The undervolt made the biggest change to the coil whine though. I have a pretty silent pc, all noctua fans, so coil whine is extra annoying - with the undervolt and any sort of fan noise, you should be mostly good.

The Seasonic TX-1600 is too much for my PC, on average the total consumption of my PC is maximum 500w, it is useless and a waste of money, if there was a tx 1000 it would be an option.
Yes, i'm not recommending a Tx-1600 at all, even with the Rm1200x shift, it was fine and managable if you just undervolt.

It reduces the noise a ton and if you put the effort in, you lose zero performance, heck you can gain performance since boost can boost more often/consistent.

Key here is: Undervolt and reduce the noise, or deal with it.

Oh, I don't know, to find out if it was the cause or not it called elimination, and now you know it is not the cause

I ordered a source, a corsaire hx1000i shift, let's see if it works with this, the pc is in an extension cord and the extension cord is plugged into the wall socket next to the fridge, but I also tried it in another socket in the same room, now I don't want to take the pc to another room to try again

Wasting money if you haven't already tried undervolting.

Lots of modern appliances have coil whine, for example a new 240hz IPS 1440p monitor i just purchased... has coil whine (nothing like GPUs though).

Yeah that can also cause coil whine. Or add to it. Electrical components are... interesting. Both being plugged next to a heavy appliance, and using an extension cord, may cause impact.
