Hi. Two days ago I let Adrenalin update my RX 5600xt Mech OC to the latest driver in Windows 10, screen flickered more than usual, then all the Windows icons disappeared. I waited ages (30mins+) nothing chamged so then held power button down to turn off.

Turned on, pc beeped, but zero display - no splash screen nothing, but sounded like it was booting up with fans etc.

Turned off then on against several times still nothing.

I had a 2600x so I sold that and got a 4650g, pc boots into windows fine when hdmi in the mobo now with gfx removed, but when I plug gfx back into mobo, pc beeps several times and won't boot or display anything.

Card was great before this (tho a previous driver update for rx5600 on Win 11 wrecked that install so I had to fresh install windows 10). But has been stable in Win 10 for a few months.

Until that driver update.

Should I try deleting adrenaline and using DDU? (read about that in other forums...not used it ever).

I was hoping to roll back the gfx driver bit can't as as soon as it's plugged into mobo the pc won't load (I haven't checked what the beeps mean yet ().

But it seems AMD's driver has bricked my card!

Any suggestions pls? Thanks

Aorus B450

8GB 3000mhz RAM (Corsair)

Ryzen 5 4650g

Kingston m.2 SSD

Windows 10

(All drivers are always kept up to date, and I did a BIOS update to the latest just a few months back).

Many thanks!

If the PC can't boot you need to swap a parts.
Test the GPU in another PC to ensure it's in a working condition.
Or/and also test another GPU in your PC. (I guess you can use onboard GPU from the CPU)
I.e. take out the GPU and use onboard GPU and see if the PC will works normally.

Also what PSU you are using?

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I have a Corsair 550w PSU which is more than enough for this GPU.
I appreciate your help!
I had to buy a new CPU as mine (a 2600x) no graphics, so got a Ryzen 5 4650g which worked as you say to boot into windows without the GPU in.

I have actually fixed it now - it was the card, determined by one long beep and two short from my mobo - I will post how I fixed it below (it's from a text I sent someone so abit garbled, but it was a tricky fix that I didn't find after hours of scouting forums! I was able to reinstall the drivers and fix the card this way:

*FIX*

"Fixed my GPU!! Quite chuffed as there were literally NO helpful things online (except general moaning that amd brick their stuff).

So I checked my mobo manual and read something called VGA legacy or UEFI - choose 'auto' for legacy or disabled for UEFI.
So to find that I also (bizarrely) had to enable Fast Boot. Then that option appeared (as it wasn't there otherwise).

Then I plugged my GPU in the second pcie slot I had (it's only X4 rather than x16). Had to unplug the big usb 3 cable which upon boot then showed a graphic!! It said 'pleased choose correct boot media 🤦🏼‍♂️ so I went back I to bios and changed the boot order from USB (which I'd unplugged) to my m.2 drive. (I leave it usb first in case I ever need to boot from a usb 🤷🏼‍♂️).

Pc booted up to windows looking very 1996 vga, then I installed adrenaline software, reinstalled the GPU driver and restarted and it still worked!!

This afternoon I will put it back in the main pcie x16 slot and check it's still hunky dory.

I should write a guide! 😄

Of course I haven't put it in the main pcie yet but will do so later. If it works then I will try disabling Legacy VGA boot mode (I'm assuming it defaulted to the most basic bios mode of the GPU hence was able to bypass
the corrupted install of the fancy full driver. Hopf now it's fixed itself)."

SUggest you update Motherboard Bios as it sounds like it is out of date

Thanks for your reply. It did have the latest BIOS update already...I appreciate the answer though. (I will, however, double check in case there is one that has just been released) 👍
