A black screen occurred during BDO playback. Can I send my S/N to Nichrome to get vBIOS?

good evening all,

so i have the MSI 6800xt gaming x trio with 020.001.000.049.000000 bios,

i do not have any black screens, but i do have screen flickering regardless of what driver i have installed in some games, i have noticed that this card doesnt perform as well as all the reviews i have read online about the 6800xt, comparing borderlands 3 benchmarks and heaven benchmarks, it performs about 40% slower,

i have searched all day about this problem with my graphics card, and it seems this particular model is plagued with problems. im looking for one of the earlier vbios's to flash the card with,

some people say there is no tool to do this with, however, within gigabyte rgb pro software it is hidden in some files.....

wtih that i am able to download my bios which is working but seems it is power restricted. i have no reason to believe this tool would allow you to flash a newer bios, with that said, STAY AWAY FROM TECH POWER UP BIOS'S, they are too small file size and will brick the gpu. they are only 500kb files, the ones copies from the gpu is 1000kb in size,

i have tried to flash a bios from another card, however because of the bios missmatch, it will not accept the bios.

Anyone can confirm this MSI RX6800XT Gaming X Trio card cannot overclock well? While other card easily 2600mhz+, I found my card will crash after exceeding 2550mhz. Can anyone confirm the same? Or anyone is able to hit 2600mhz stable?

i will also confirm this, with the bios that i have i found the card is slower than a normal 6800xt but i think its because the grpahics card isnt consuming the right amount of wattage, mine will rarely hit 230w or more, and thus causes it to perform worse than the non xt version. in some games like cold war. i struggle to get above 60fps regardless of settings. but mine is the same as yours, anything above 2550mhz, it crashes, seems theres really something wrong with these bios's

@ Nichrome, it seems all the bios's on this card are plagued with issues unless you have the reviewers edition bios. i just hope msi sort the problem out, i really cant be bothered to return the card.

There is no reviewer's vBIOS, all are official ones approved for mass production. The one I have is an official version that seems to still have not made it to LiveUpdate. I'll follow up on that one...
Please, please, if your issue is not related to blackscreens while using DisplayPort, open own thread about it. We will not be troubleshooting artifacts, poor performance, crashes and what not in a thread that is related specifically to DP bug.

can you confirm which vbios you have Nichrome, msi live update doesn't show me any updates ?

[B]Nichrome[/B] ,the new Vbios you sent seems to have done the trick ,i was getting black screens with DP and HDMI after exiting any game, strangely though gaming was rock solid, it was when the GPU wasn't under much load it blacked screened.
Performance is as it should be with the new bios and can overclock as well, i sent mine back to the retailer to do the update encase i bricked it and they acknowledged there is a problem with the old bios which on my card the 0.45, i am now on 0.49, thanks again.

can also confirm, it seems to have helped with driver stability and less black screens, some flicker still though, but seems mostly fine now ! will do a clean install of windows (AGAIN) and update here if anything changes

And I payed 1100 euro, yikes.

I have been told the vBIOS should be made available this week through LiveUpdate. Likely tomorrow.
Information about that should be published on the website; it will come with instructions (SOP), and PLEASE follow as it'll say in the .pdf.

Thx Nichrome for the effort. Any way to upgrade it without live update by chance? I still can't scan for gpu bios in live update and I don't know why. Or is it "the same" vbios we got pmed from you?

It is exactly same vBIOS.

Any Eta on this by chance? It seems the vbios made it even worse for me. Crashing in one specific game every 5-10 minutes, while performing "lighter tasks" in that game with no big animations and stuff going. But also pretty regular with more animation.

No crashes so far in warzone tho

I had same problems as listed by everyone on here since swapping from a 2080s to rx6800xt , tried all sorts and no fix. Stumbled across the you tube video below on a DCOM 10016 error fix and had no issues in over a week now.

I have the new 0.49 bios and it stopped all black screens so far , after reading your comment about the card using less wattage i decided to test it myself with the Unigine Heaven Benchmark , i can confirm with my card reached max 280W during the benchmark run pegged mostly at 99% usage which all seems normal to me.

This card will black screen upon Watch Dogs Legion Choosing First avatar screen.
I doubt it is the card at the beginning, but only this game gives a black screen, other games are smooth.
using old driver, my card will black screen and go full blast, I even doubt my PSU but it is a brand new Asus Strix 850, not possible.
Using newest driver, my card will black screen and have the exact behavior of previously experienced black screen.
Please help file a case to the engineers if you could, thanks!
Now I have to wait and can't play my watch dogs legion TT

If it's a single game causing issues then there is nothing MSI can do about it. And this vBIOS is currently best MSI could offer. Still waiting on AMD to produce properly fixed version.

The vBIOS is now available through LiveUpdate. Please download it directly from your card's product page. Together with LiveUpdate there should be instructions, please follow that.
Above only applies to those that have NOT received a vBIOS from me. It is exactly the same as what you got from me already.
Also uploaded instructions here just in case...
To keep this short:
Make sure to move LiveUpdate window when you attempt to update vBIOS. It's gonna cover flash tool...
