Hi, I'm writing a post here, since polish support on forum isnt best. I hope anyone can help me here coz I'm getting really annoyed, I've asked on windows 8.1 forum as well.

So I bought components and made a PC from this:
MSI Z97 GAMING 5
Intel Core i7-4790k 4GHz (box)
Crucial DDR3 2x8GB 1600MHZ CL9 Bakllistix Sport
Asus GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2GB DDR5 (box)
Corsair CS650M 650W 80+Gold
obudowa SilentiumPC Gladius M40
Segate Barracuda ST1000DM003 (1TB, 64MB SATA/600)
Windows 8.1 64-bit

I thought about buying win7 but I wanted to try newer version, which was, I guess, bad idea. Anyway I had a lot of problems from start. Firstly my PC, at least once per day shut down and gave error "overclocking settings have failed". TBH I didnt even want to OC my PC. I bought components for OC, but wanted to use it later, but z97 gaming 5 has premade OC settings (God why?...). So I asked for help on polish forum. They said "update the BIOS". I did, now I have no problems with OC, but got other, even worse issues.

So, the problem is that my PC, once per day, or ten times per day, freezes. Its like it is thinking but don't know what to do. For example:
1. I have internet connection but i can't use search engine - I have tried different, Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome. I can't even use steam search engine. I have Internet connection because for example I'm playing multiplayer games via steam, then I want to use search engine built-in and I notice that it's not working. The page is loading but It never loads.
2. I can't open various programs/files. Firstly I can't open search engine sometimes. I'm opening bandicam, but after I should see bandicam window, I see nothing, like the computer lost information about opening it. I'm trying to open a video and I get a bug, that I can't. I try one more time, and everything is fine  :bonk:
3. I can't close search engine or anything else. Even my PC. I can't, I click "shutdown" button and nothing happens, like the button isnt working. A button on PC tower isnt working too, only way to shutdown my PC is to hold button on tower for some seconds.

What I have tried to do:
1.Asked for help on win8 forum, polish msi forum, search in google for help.
2.Used heavy load program, and everything seems ok, nothing crashed, but I have 0% RAM all time, dunno why:

3.I dusted off my computer and checked if power supply is connected ok.
4.I checked internet connection and everything seems fine.
5.I have updated BIOS some weeks ago.

What shall I try to do? Please help...

You'd better use memtest to check if your RAM have any problem or not.

If it is okay, you can also try to reinstall OS and drivers, to rule out the improperly install problem.
By the way, how did you install the drivers and those drivers version is ?

What is your BIOS version?
Did you >>clear CMOS<< after you flash the BIOS?

TBH I installed system twice, since I wrongly divided space for disk, I had some problems with it afterwards, but it's ok now.

What drivers? I'm updating everything by using programs provided with motherboard, like live update.
I was looking for drivers for RAM, but haven't found any, any newer if I remember correctly.

No, I haven't cleared CMOS.

There are two things which people advise me to do, but I didn't since I want to leave it as last option:
1.Take off specific components and try how is computer working without them.
2.Reinstall OS.
On win8 forum they said that I should try to use computer in different modes and check how it's working, but I don't have 99% chance that my computer will freeze by using him even in normal mode.

So, I should try to clear CMOS? Ok. I will do it.

Run memtest like it has been suggested already: http://www.memtest.org/download/5.01/memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer.zip (requires USB stick)

Also add bios version currently used and try with just one memstick.

Ok so I have tried memtest86+ 5.01

I run it for about 3 hours, and my computter passed two sesions without any errors. I thought it's about RAM, but it seems fine. What next should I try? CMOS?

2 passes doens't mean much
Run Prime95: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205
Use "Large In-Place FFT's" for 24h hours

Crucial DDR3 2x8GB 1600MHZ CL9 Bakllistix Sport
Show screenshot from CPU-Z memory tab

I did, now I have no problems with OC, but got other, even worse issues.
does this mean that your PC is now OCed?

I run it for 3 hours, it's not enough? Should I leave the test before going to school or something like this?

I didn't notice it, I thought I have turned off OC settings, but I'm using OC Genie mode so I guess it's OC now.

go into your BIOS: go into OC - go to CPU frequancy - set to auto - go to Dram Frequancy - Set to auto - go to DRAM timing - enter and find command rate (CR) and set to 2T/2N) save and exit BIOS and see what happens then.

change timing mode to Linked
go into advanced DRAM configuration
in there will be the options to change the command rate to 2T or 2N

Ok, but still there are no values like 2T or 2N, just numbers from 1 to 6 I guess.

Ok I have values from 1 to 3, will change it to 2 and then see how its working right?

Btw. what the hell am I doing by changing this options? Is there any site where I can read about this?

I have updated BIOS to version 1.7.

And I am still thinking about clearing CMOS, I have never done this before, should I?

command rate is a setting that can slow down access time between the data being ready and the CPU being able to access it and the lower the number the less delay but the more chance you have for a error to sneak pased

CR1 = full speed and very little delay
CR2 = adds a extra tick of the clocks before it can be accessed

CR2 is more stable and is the best to test under as there is less chance of errors and as a result is more stable

1. use only one memory stick, if same problem still exist, try use another one.
2. clear CMOS....
3. try with another HDD.
4. reinstall OS and all the drivers.
