I recently bought the X870 Tomahawk to use with a 9800x3d and Corsair 2x16Gb 6000CL30 EXPO (CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30) but I'm having lots of issues...
Frequent crashes (windows sometimes shows "Clock watchdog timeout" BSOD, sometimes no blue screen), my NVME drives sometimes disappear (I need to turn off the power completely, a reboot isn't enough to show it again) making the OS unable to boot and I could not get the Wifi to work.

Today during a reboot there was a warning that the hardware changed so I press F1 to open the bios and the EXPO profile simply disappeared! I exit the bios, boot the system and now it only shows 4Gb of RAM?!? The system is very slow too.
I'm using the latest bios, but it isn't stable, please advise.

These problems can be frustrating, but I'm hoping that MSI will keep up the prompt updates. They also answer support tickets WAY quicker than ASUS, who may or may not answer at all!
I don't remember exactly, because it's been a long time since I had an inquiry with Asus.

But yes, yesterday the support sent me the A19 by e-mail. I checked a few hours later to see if it was also available on the support page. But there was the A1A and I asked the German support if the A1A also contains the fix for the audio controller, because the release notes didn't contain anything about it. 8 minutes later I had the answer! That was very fast!

This is the guy who installed the CPU in a vertical position. He pushes the CPU, which is not properly seated in the socket, onto the pins. You can see how careful he is by the fact that he is wearing a ring. :deadlaugh:

I made this account to voice my disappointment with this board. I've had a myriad off issues most of which have been voiced in this thread. As others have said, I am not a beta tester! MSI please fix your QA.

My newest and most severe issue so far? The ethernet has stopped working completely. Problem as described here, seems this is another glaring problem shared by me and others
The lights on the port don't light up anymore and windows shows the network cable as unplugged. Different PC works fine on the router. Reinstalling drivers did nothing. Now I am stuck with wifi.

About to return this unfinished product and go AsRock.

You have to make a CMOS Clear! And then unfortunately make the settings in the UEFI again if you did not have a default.

You should also update the UEFI to version 7E51v1A1A. In my case, when the computer/motherboard was in energy-saving mode for a longer period of time (several hours), my Ethernet and/or my WLAN adapter were “gone”. I have never noticed this with 7E51v1A1A! 7E51v1A17 has been removed from the MSI support page. That means something...

I am using ChatGPT for the translation.

When installing the SN850X 2TB on the M2_4(chipset lane) slot of the X870 Tomahawk motherboard, I encounter issues with sleep mode. After waking from sleep, when I try to restart or shut down Windows, the screen goes black and no sequence occurs, and it takes about 5 minutes before the system restarts or shuts down. I have three NVMe drives and have tested various combinations, but this issue only occurs with the SN850X on the M2_4 slot, while the other two NVMe drives do not exhibit this problem. It's well known that the X670E Tomahawk also had similar or even more severe compatibility issues with the SN850X.

My SN850X is in M2_1 and my ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro is in M2_4. I do not have these problems.

As I mentioned earlier, there is an issue when installing the SN850X on M2_4 slot. M2_1 doesn't have any issues. Additionally, I removed another SN850X from a different PC and tested it again. In the end, I tested the Hynix P41 1TB, samsung 980 2TB, SN850X 1TB, and SN850X 2TB. The other two NVMe drives had no issues, but the problem occurs when installing the SN850X (either 1TB or 2TB) on M2_4.

how do you guys think about new 1A bios? Is it stable? I'm on a17 bios and it works great for me. Should I upgrade or wait. msi removed a17 bios file from the site. It's a bit weird.

Is it just certain memory that is causing problems with this board or are there other problems as well? Reviews seem fairly good but this thread has me a bit scared.

well, im using for five days, working flawlessly !
I was really worried reading all those messages here ! running a 9900x, 7200 gskill with xmp only! but everything works

using windows 11 dev, no issues with sleep, total of 0 blue or green screens of death! sleep, hibernate, 100%

from what i heard newest windows builds are working better with ryzen 9 and x870, a lot of work between amd and microsoft

"I'm sorry for my English, I am using ChatGPT for translation. I am using MSI X870 Tomahawk, and there is a setting called 'Infinity Fabric Frequency and Dividers' in the BIOS menu. What is the difference between this setting and FCLK?"

After making these settings, I ran Testmem5 and Prime95 tests, and they didn't show any errors. However, as I’ve read, AMD no longer reports WHEA errors with Zen 4. Which test program should I use to determine if these settings are stable?

I purchased this motherboard and a 9800X3D. I have tried A16, A17, and 1A1A. All three have been extremely unstable. I can not enable CPU Boost, PBO, EXPO, or X3D Game mode, otherwise Windows crashes within 3 minutes. Without those enabled, I get between 1 and 6 hours before the OS completely locks up. Temps are below 60C on a 360mm AIO. MSI has told me to either RMA the CPU or wait for a stable BIOS. This is with a brand new Windows 11 Pro 24H2 install. I am using a Corsair HX1000i power supply and G.Skill TridentZ F5-6000J3238G32GX2-TZ5NR RAM. This is my first AMD build since Bulldozer. I have never experienced so many issues with new hardware like this.

Have you installed wifi drivers and are you using any wireless devices with usb plugins (not the motherboard bluetooth) out of curiosity?
