Hi all

Really strage issue, the USB ports on the motherboard are not working, but the front panel case ones are.
Its only the USB port, the ethernet, HDMI etc all work...
Ive checked device manager, but i cant decipher which are front vs back panel

Im using the MPG Z490 Gaming Plus
Intel i3 10th Gen L1200

The cable on the motherboard is connected fine the USB 3.0 one...
All the drivers for the USB seem to be the latest also

Any ideas?

Thank you in advanced

Ok, on that board, the JFP1 header has the same pin layout, and it's still pretty much the most bottom-right header on the board. So i don't think you can make too many mistakes there. Now what i would suggest is to try it with the board outside of the case, on a wooden table for example. This excludes a short with the case, which could happen if there's a standoff in the case where there is no mounting hole on the board for example. Short these two pins from JFP1 with a screwdriver to give the power-on signal:

Corsair RM850 is a good PSU model, however, should the board not do anything even outside of the case, it would be good to test with a different PSU (known good, not too old, decent quality).

You mean heatpipes. Still, doesn't tell me too much, could be literally hundreds of different models.

The M.2 SSD cost a lot, yes, but primarily because it has 4TB capacity. Compared to really good drives like the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB, there will still be a considerable price difference, enough to call the P3 / P3 Plus cheap, which is why they are so popular. Their performance isn't too good at all.

Which exact GPU model do you have? You can even leave it out for testing, it doesn't matter if the board doesn't respond at all. At the very least, you want to see one of the EZ Debug LEDs coming on. Without a GPU, it would definitely stop on the VGA LED being on, if not sooner. But first step is to see a sign of life from the board.

Took the ram out and no light came on plus using mobile so auto correct is a pain lol

Yeah you can take pretty much everything out except probably the CPU and the cooler, then take the board out from the case and try it on a non-conductive surface. After that you'd have to try with a different PSU.

I tried the screwdriver method that you said and I got life but then I put the pins back in didn’t work

Means that your power button probably has an issue. If your case has a reset button, put the reset button cable on the power button pins and try turning on the PC with the reset button.
