[SOLVED] MSI PRO B850-P WIFI — Wi-Fi adapter gone from Device Manager (Bluetooth still works). Fixed by removing standby power.

My onboard Wi-Fi disappeared. Not a yellow warning icon. Not disabled. It was completely gone from the PCIe bus. The Bluetooth part of the same module kept working the whole time.

A Windows factory reset did not fix it. BIOS Restore Defaults did not fix it. A full BIOS reflash did not fix it.

What fixed it: removing standby power, plus a Clear CMOS. Shut down, turn off the PSU switch, unplug the cable, hold the case power button for 30 seconds, press the Clear CMOS button, wait several minutes, power on. The adapter came back on the next boot.

If you have this problem, do the power drain first. Everything else I tried was a waste of time.

My system
Motherboard: MSI PRO B850-P WIFI
Wi-Fi module: Qualcomm FastConnect 7800
LAN: Realtek PCIe 5GbE (worked fine the whole time)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
OS: Windows 11

Just to share the video of how to drain remaining power from the PC:
