Hello everyone, I am writting this topic because I am interested in buying laptop MSI GX600PX (not the Extreme edition, but normal). I am from Czech Republic, and the thing is that they had them for sale in shops here, but now everything is empty. But this is not the most serious problem, the problem is that some people bought it and they are saying that this laptop died after 1 or 2 weeks of work. Not only one person, but quite a lot of them. They are telling that this is manufacturing problem, the thing is that this laptop is not starting at all, lights are blinking but nothing else and with some of them just keyboard died. So many of them were put in a service center. This laptop is selling here under the name GX600PX-014CZ and shops are empty now. so I am wondering is this because of this hardware issue? And to all the people here who have it or had it, is everything ok with hardware? Please write, we want to hear your opinion and opinion of MSI.

And second question is it possible to put 4GB RAM in it?

Thanks.

Pff...at least tell me if GX600PX and GX700PX supports more that 2GB, I know that its written only 2GB but this chipset can use more that 2GB can it use 3 or 4? Because nowadays 2Gb of RAM is nothing... And people with those laptops can they give a feedback about them.

The GX600 only supports a max of 2GB.

For virtual mashines for example and with resolution 1680 x 1050 on GX700 all games will be starving without memory soon. How good is monitor on GX700 i just wonder if it is good in not native resolution for example 1280x800...because now I have Samsung 931c monitor and not in native (1280x1024) the image quality in games is really really bad.

You expect quite a lot from a laptop....
Even an gaming laptop isn't that good, you better go for a desktop machine.

yeah i know, I need some mobile desktop...heh. But CPU is good...and a lot of memory will do the trick...probably I will use external monitor for games...

Well in 2GB you can run a lot of Virtual machines without much troubles.
Sorry but I'm still missing the point here.
I have run machines with 512MB upto 2GB, there isn't much difference ;-))
In Vista yes, but not in XP.

Well yeah... this Vista eats a lot... still this chipset supports more that 2GB this fuction is just disable and hidden somewere. I bet with a proper BIOS it is possible to run with more that 2Gb. And who knows what programs we will have in 2 years time...because I hope that thing will work at least few years... Now I am more interested in monitor quality in non native resolution and with total quality of that laptop, because people whom I was talking about before told that the problem is probably in overheating when using Turbo button. And they told me that this button have not Turbo function but Self-destruction function. ;D
