Hi!

I would like to enable SR-IOV on my MSI X470 Gaming Pro motherboard, but unfortunately the option to do this in the BIOS is hidden by default. I've understood that there are ways to un-hide this option by modding the BIOS. Is there anyone here who can help me on my way with that? I would really appreciate some pointers, thanks! The BIOS I'm currently using is the latest official beta, 7B79v1I5.

So it is not enabled on 1.2.0.5 for your board.

Under PCI setting
I don't have Click Bios lite screen shots

You can use the Ticket system for MSI to ask if they can do it for you
See Link

Thanks for your reply Alan. As you can see on my screenshot, for me the SR-IOV option is missing:

Thanks for the tip about the ticket system. I have raised a ticket, but I'm a bit sceptical that official MSI support will provide me with a modded BIOS? Well who knows!

Well, unfortunately I did not get a very useful reply from MSI:

Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.
Regarding your concern, sorry to say the motherboard BIOS doesn't have SR-IOV option. Thanks!
Thanks for your cooperation in advance!
Best Regards,
MSI Technical Support Team

Doesn't look like they're going to give me a modified version of the BIOS, unfortunately, so I'll have to get it some other way.... but how?

Well it would cost them a far bit of money to mod a BIOS as it would need testing but more that ask more the chance of it happening

And there may be more BIOS updates to be released yet

There is a bios mod section on this forum and bioses can be obtained for a "donation"....

This is what @Svet does on the forum, bios mods. I don't know what the acceptance criteria is however.

Thanks Laurence. Actually I posted this thread in the modding section, but it was moved by the moderators to the AMD Boards section.

@Alan J T can you please move this thread to the modding section? Thanks! It would be great if @Svet can help me with this...

Someone else had the same problem, but I don't think they stuck around long enough to see the reply from svet.

Update

I managed to get my hands on AMIBCP, and tried to edit the entry for SR-IOV so it would be USER visible, like so:

Flashed the modded BIOS. Didn't help.

Then I opened the BIOS image with UEFITool. Did a search for any strings containing "SR-IOV" and "AMD CBS", and extracted the corresponding PE32 image sections by using the "Extract as is" option. Then I made these human-readable with Universal IFR Extractor, and opened them with Notepad++

I was hoping to find some clear indicator in these sections on why the SR-IOV option is hidden/masked/whatever, but unfortunately I did not. I don't really know how to proceed...

I have not done any BIOS modding part from boot logo in a Very long time last time was way back when bios was less than 1mb in size
Ya I would not know what strings to adjust from what you have there but looks like you need to do several to get it to show up and be selectable.
