My new MSI Stealth 66 is not stealthy. Why is this named a "Stealth" laptop ? It's absurdly loud.
The silent profile does nothing, it's a nonsense.
No change in noise after undervolting and lowering TDP either. Where is the control to limit fan speed directly?

What are the CPU and GPU loading when you feel the noise?
Did the problem happen since you got the laptop?
I suggest you could try to update the EC firmware to the latest version.

The CPU and GPU are at idle. This is a clean install no software installed, all updates complete. Nothing running I I I'll try updating EC firmware, thank you for the suggestion.

After updating the EC firmware there is no difference. The fan is still running at idle with a constant whine. This is not stealth, it's uncomfortabley noise.
How can I control the fan directly? The "Dragon Center" is not functioning ??? The MSI companion says the fans are at 0rpm ???

I purchased a flagship Stealth laptop... do I have to return it now?

I found a MSI utility "Silent Option" that gives control for fans. This is the same as the "Advanced" section in the awful "MSI Dragon control" center.
Now I can tell the CPU fan to not turn on until needed. But I notice there is no gradient. The CPU fan is either 0% off or 2600 rpm at 1%

We need to control the speed the CPU fan runs at in small steps. How can the speed of the fans be controlled with granularity?

I think you can adjust the fan speed at the “User” scenario in the Dragon Center.
There is a fan speed function that you can control.

Only if the Dragon center actually installs and runs; and then it's hidden in an advanced setting. The simpler solution is to use "Silent Option" found here; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?...n-control-application-for-msi-laptops.255972/

The primary purpose of "Dragon Center" seems to be data harvesting, not providing a useful utility for users. It's a corrupt development.

How can I control the my fan speed? I need to be able to make it ramp slowly, not go to from 0 to 2700rpm with nothing in between.

How do we finesse our fan settings?
