Strange behaviour from X670e Tomahawk

Greetings good people,

I have been rocking an X670e Tomahawk for almost 2 years now, Recently, about 10 days or so, I upgraded the BIOS to ver. 7E12v1H, which is the latest at the time of typing this. I also reinstalled a copy of Windows 11. All is well execpt that sometimes when I boot my PC from a cold boot, the PC takes longer than normal to boot into Windows and windows feels very sluggish like even the mouse pointer jumps around and clicking or trying to open any app feels impossible—turning the PC off then on again from a cold boot fixes this.
PC specs :

7800X3d
2x32GB DDR5 6000T Gskill RAM
4080 SuprimX
512 GB Samsung 960 pro SSD for booting
2TB Kingston Fury SSD
1TB Samsung EVO 840 SATA
1TB Seagate HD
Antec 1350w PSU
 
yes with AGESA Pre 1.2.0.3 setting the SOC voltage to 1.3 solved the issue, but since the AGESA 1.2.0.3 it got broken again!
Thanks for confirming! I booted up today stuck at 3.0, so yeah, definitely not fixed still. I'll probably try testing new voltages the next time it crashes my driver. Starting at 1.25 and working my way down.

I have been seeing lately that it can happen on other motherboards, gigabyte for example but i watched that today and yeah, looks the same.

So this seems to be an AMD issues thats mostly effecting MSI if i had to guess - since it's hard to find other vendors having this issue.
I've had quite a few motherboards within the year (2025-now).
 
Fingers crossed indeed. I wanna try it out but have no time for it for now, I have a couple of very busy weeks. Maybe then with a fresh install of a stripped-down Windows 11!
 
It's still not fixed for all configurations, but it does seem improved. I've booted to 4.0 a couple times now. Multiple 5.0s in a row which was not happening on the last one. I did have to turn spread spectrum back on after the first boot after flash was 4.0. I messaged msi again and they said more configuration improvements would be released over the next few weeks/months but they didn't have a timeframe. Gave me the option to RMA if I suspect the hardware. Which I don't, the system runs without issue once it boots to 5.0. If it doesn't get fixed eventually and I do RMA I'll just be buying another brand and selling the msi board when it comes back. I'd recommend anyone still experiencing it open a ticket with msi. The only way this gets fixed in a reasonable amount of time for everyone is if more people contact them. At least they are acknowledging it now.
 
This is becoming unbearable!!!! Each time I turn on my pc feels like I am playing russian roulette! Today was the most extreme incident with my pc, it refused to even boot! It boots directly to a black screen, no matter what I do! I tried hot reset, cold restart, cold boot, nothing. It totally refused to boot. I left the PC off for 5 hours (Without discontecting the PSU) and went out with the family, when I came back Guess what!!!! It booted fine!!!! WTF MSI !!!!!!!! This will be my last ever MSI motherboard!

I will try it out within the next 2 days. I also need to install a fresh copy of Windows, so maybe Friday or Saturday. Of course, it will need to be tested for the laggy boot issue, which might need weeks of testing and monitoring.

I don't have those issues, but KB and KA bioses gave me instability with my ram setup, but there's a weird issue with my video card that is a 6700XT that sometimes while surfing the web the VRAM clock crashes to 0 MHz, computer does NOT freeze or anything beyond VRAM clock crash, but is anoying, and this new bios says it has better compatibility with older video cards, maybe it will fix my issue , BUT don't know about RAM stability with this one

Those two have been Beta versions. See here:
It looks like MSI doesn't mention anymore if a bios is beta or final on the support page for new AMD (X870/B8x0) and Intel generation.

Based on the old naming scheme:
------------X870 / B850 ---------------
Final: 1A1 (1A10), 2A1 (2A10), ...
Beta: 1A14, 2A55, 1B25, ...

------------X670 / B650 ---------------
Final: 1R (1R0), A8 (A80), ...
Beta: 1R5, A83, A8C, ...
So 1K1, 1K3, 1K7, 1KA, 1KB were all beta versions on their way to the non-Beta 1K (1K0).
But it does not guarantee 1K0 to be any more stable than 1KA.
 
Wow, it did not need much time to test this BIOS, it solved none of my issues. On my 3rd or 4th boot (warm boot by the way) after installing Razer apps, it showed its ugly face, sluggish performance, distorted audio, and corrupted image on the Windows desktop. Had to turn the PC completely off before firing it again to solve the issue. Can't wait to get a new motherboard ( preferably an ASUS one, sorry MSI, but I have waited for 2 years with no solution)

yeah I know that, but so far 1K looks to be pretty stable, I will see what will happens to my wierd video card Vram clock issue

what? but is it strictly after installing the Razer app? I have the Razer app installed and have no issue, I play a lot of music form my pc directly to my 5.1 optic audio setup with no issue whatsoever
 
Nothing to do with the razer app, it just that motherboard decided to fail boot when I restarted my PC after installing Razer drivers and app.

I'm tinkering with the BIOS and decided to set the SOC voltage manually to 1.25v rather than leaving it on Auto, like previous older AGESA 1.2.0.2. Adjusting the SOC voltage manually eliminated all issues like stuck PCIe and strange behaviors.
I will be testing this and see if this will stop the issues with AGESA 1.2.0.3+

why in the world would you leave the SoC voltage in AUTO? don't you stress test the RAM stability? VDDIO voltage takes a part on HDD stability, if I set it too low my HDD's start to get funky

With older AGESA 1.2.0.2 I used to manually set the SOC and other voltages. Never had issues with my HDD,SDD or NVME SDD on Auto. My issue is related to a stuck PCIe and sluggish performance, screen tearing, and a laggy mouse pointer. I went to my old habit of setting some voltages and other BIOS options to manual values and testing this for some days. Also, regarding memory testing, I do a full memory test for 24 hours when I buy the memory and set it in my system with EXPO/XMP enabled. Always do this.

All pcie lanes are stuck? or just the video cards one? stuck to 4? 8?
 
When the sluggish episode starts, I can barely run any app, so checking the PCIe was only possible with GPU-Z, so I only kept an eye on the graphics card lanes. The sluggishness prevented me from running any app because it would take forever to start any.
