With the volume to my speakers up, when I use my mouse rollerball up and down it makes a strange noise, maybe some settings in the audio card built into the MSI? Anyone else have this problem?

I do not think its an issue with the board since I have a similar issue with an Abit motherboard that I use an awe64 with since it has no onboard sound.

I to had this problem once with a non 64 bit system. This is do to EMI interferance. This can be caused by wires being to close with poor shielding or some hardware with poor shielding. It could also be due to the grounding on the plug and or your house. I would check those things out. The only way I got my old CPU to stop was to install a new sound card. Hope that helps some.

P.S. Try a new Mouse also.

Noticed that myself when I turn the volume up. I have an MS Track Ball Explorer and when I use the scroll wheel, a very similar noise.

I got all exited there for a second but Spread Spectrum is Enabled and problem still occurs... any other suggestions?

i have the same noise, the sound comes from writing to the hard drive, scrolling
the mouse ect. my sound was from my tv tuner card creating some kind of ground
loop because it goes through the line in on the sound card if i muted the line in
when not using it the noise was gone if you have any kind of tuner card that attaches to the sound card internaly or externaly check that out. it was my
problem :-))

Hey peterson65!

I do have a TV tuner card, I do use the line in on the sound card, (built in sound card) and I did try muting the line in and the sound disappeared along with all my other sound, the connection is external, you hit the nail on the head but how do I fix this? What do I do?

use a Belkin surgeprotector with signal cleaning, it's definietly interference and poor shielding, but it could be fomr the powersupply

Hi,

All Computer audio devices have this, one worse then the other....
Mostly only heard when the sound of and external amplifier has been set to max.
This noise is created by the CPU and Videocard, it probably reduces a little when you lower the resolution of your videocard.
There is not much you can do about it, as the power inside the computer is full of disturbing spikes....
The only way to get rid of it, is buy a audio-card that outputs digital to an external amplifier, some very expensive cards do this...but even then!...there still be some noise but far less....
