Stuttering Recently

I’m getting stutters recently. The only things I did was the following.

Update Bios on my Z590 A Pro to it’s current version.

Update GPU drivers to current version.

Played Lost Ark which had horrendous stuttering.

Now every game stutters.

I think it’s a RAM issue. That or a microcode issue from the BIOS. I’m not too sure though. Originally the RAM wasn’t on the QVL list and I could never obtain the speeds. After the bios update, now I can.

I’m also getting lower FPS than usual. With drops and stuttering.

Not sure if it’s an update issue from MSI, NVIDIA or Windows.

I’ve tried the following so far with no fix:

Reinstalled NVIDIA drivers with DDU.
Rolled back NVIDIA drivers with DDU.
Reinstalled Windows.

My next step is to roll back the BIOS update and see.

My last step is to do a process of elimination by getting new parts such as RAM, SSD, Motherboard and etc and see what the issue is.

If or when I figure out this issue, I’ll post back here with the results.

I did a update to my Z590 gaming plus. No issues. Though have you tried a rollback on bios see if that help anything? If not then guess check to see what hardware is causing the issue.

I rolled back the NVIDIA drivers and the BIOS. Nothing changed.

I did a Memtest and I'm getting errors in the Memtest now.

There are others on the NVIDIA forums complaining of stuttering issues from the newest drivers and rolling back didn't fix them.

I am leaning towards it being a RAM issue since Memtest is showing errors in test 9. I did order some new RAM.

So when the new RAM comes in. I'll see if anything changes. Even my desktop seemed slower after long use and kind of hitched, some games were also crashing.

well I haven’t updated my drivers lately figure there no reason to for the Nvidia driver. Unless I’m looking to play a new game or a new feature. If that the root of the cause I can’t think of what you can do. You done all the troubleshooting.

Yea, if it's a driver issue then there's nothing I can do other than wait for a patch/fix. The RAM does seem to be defective to a degree since it's getting errors so I'll see when the new RAM comes in. It could also be the motherboard as well. I have experienced this before and it was the RAM/Motherboard. I'm sure if it was strictly a driver issue then wouldn't everyone have the issue? Unless it's only tailored to specific hardware, who knows.

I say take one thing at a time. First check with the ram when you get the new ones and see how the computer does. If that don't work then look into replacing the motherboard next.

Yea. Then if that doesn't work. Then I guess SSD. Then power supply. Then CPU. Then lastly and sadly, the GPU (since it's the most expensive). And whatever one is broken. I'll do an RMA if I can I guess.

Once I installed the latest drivers again, the stutters happened in certain games again and rolling back hasn't fixed it. I think It's a driver issue from NVIDIA or a Windows issue. Something is conflicting. The only last thing to try is the GPU. But some games don't stutter and other's do. I think it might be a shader compiling issue.

120-144fps at 1440p. Depending on the game.

The frames are fine and high. There's just this slight micro stutter every so often in some games. I literally tried 3 different 3080's and the problem still persisted (1 from ASUS 2 from MSI). I don't think this is a hardware issue. I changed literally every component. CPU, RAM, MOBO, GPU, and SSD. So I think it's a Windows or NVIDIA driver issue. NVIDIA forums are riddled with people complaining with issues ever since the 5xx drivers.

I can try that I guess. I'm pretty sure I have already. Unless it's the monitor since it's freesync while using a Nvidia GPU?

The monitor is MSI Optix MPG27CQ.

The stutters are tiny. Like 1ms and random.

I'd do a fresh install again, and before you start installing all the latest drivers, I'd clone the fresh install drive if it's working without studders, then you can always fall back to that quickly and try different updates one at a time to test for studders.

I'd do a fresh install again, and before you start installing all the latest drivers, I'd clone the fresh install drive if it's working without studders, then you can always fall back to that quickly and try different updates one at a time to test for studders.

Yea. I was experiencing fps drops as well as stutters. I went to Windows 10 it still happened. I went back to 11 and the fps drops stopped that had huge frame time skips. Then I installed the newest drivers, the 1 ms to 1 second stutters were back. So I decided to try a new NVME and freshly installed Windows 11 and it was completely gone. Installed the newest NVIDIA drivers, the stutters were back again. Now on this new NVME I've tried freshly installing Windows 11 with a USB and the problem is still there. I personally think It's Windows and NVIDIA drivers conflicting with each other. It's weird cause it's acting like a virus and not being removed off the SSD until you get a new one and don't install the latest NVIDIA drivers, lol. I've reinstalled Windows so many times that I'm just done man.

I did RMA msi sea hawk rtx 3080 but they could not find it in stock so I got asus tuf lhr 3080 oc.
My susy us usb connection dropping out when connect nvme to second slot. Also sound card is using same usb path so it could be this one. Any suggestions?
Cpu is 10850k msi z590 carbon update to last bios. I don't what driver should be installed first in fresh windows 10?!

Chipset followed by GPU and Network drivers Windows will pretty much take care of most of the drivers

I think it's either cpu or mobo. Replaced everything else. Nothing I can do but I'm thinking to get 12700 with any good z690.

Quick question is msi z690 pro good for 12900k? To keep it cool and stable at stock speed. I'm using arctic freezer II 420 mm.
I tried asus but it was not good experience with xmp.

Cooling has more to do with your Cooler size and mounting, thermal compound, airflow and setting than model of motherboard. And if a 420mm Rad is not doing it then it is one broken or not being used correctly.

Hey man I have near identical setup to you, did you end up resolving? Also what game are you playing? If via DX12 turn off exploit protection. In bios you need to disable Intel Thermal Monior which was a show stopper for me and a few CPU settings, namely Speed Shift Technology, CStates and EIST..

I also cap frames to my monitors hz (240) then in nvidia set All power and quality to high performance and for VSync change to adaptive. I’d test these independently. That being said I still get the occasional small fps drop and stutter in Fortnite but it’s bareable.

if you’ve found a solution I’d love to hear it. PS my windows is stripped down and optimised, nvidia 3070 on latest drivers but I’ve heard 477.11 runs well
