Hi,

Have recently got a ms-7567, gf615m-p33 v1.2. Updated to latest BIOS I could find (7597v2a) thanks to this forum. Originally shipped with a Sempron 140 am3 cpu.

Decided I would upgrade slightly with a cheap Sempron x2 180, but same power @45W. I checked the specs on my board first to check if this cpu was supported.

Decided to try the swap... however, no go. No POST, or nothing. MB Justs sits there, fans working and LED on.

Tried CMOS/BIOS reset, but same result. Put previous CPU in and booted just fine.

Anything else I could try, before deciding the CPU is a dud?

Cheers

Nope, sounds like that CPU is a dud. That board could support something much higher if you wanted btw..... see : https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/GF615M-P33/support#cpu
Thanks! Will have to get in touch with the provider...

Yea, I looked into higher specs, but are limited by the heatsink and case (1U, short server type). Used to be a barracuda FW. So a step to dual core for the price seemed like a good trade. Also keeping on the same power output (input?) of 45W.

Amazingly, on a second run it worked! No idea what it might of been. Looked at the pins, all good. Just giggled it a bit in the socket before locking down..

Anyway, nice little upgrade for less than $5...
