I just assembled the system, but I encountered a problem like this. There is no image on the screen, the red and yellow debug lights on the motherboard are on, and it says C5 on the motherboard's screen. Since there was no image on the screen, I tried to update the bios using flash bios, but nothing changed.

processor: ryzen 7 9800x3D

Were you able to find a fix? I'm having the exact same issue. Swapped out the processor with a different one and still same error. Also tried updating the bios and used every combination of 1 - 2 RAM on all the slots with no fix.

I also have the same issue, x870 tomahawk, I took out one ram stick and still nothing. Then I turned off the computer, switch off the power, unplugged from the psu, unplugged the 24 pin cable, cpu_pcie cable and pressed and held the cmos button.

I even removed the gpu 4090 ( I've had for over 2 years) waited about 10 minutes and at first try nothing. This is not my first build, I've built 2 previous systems. Just before I changed my platform, I had a Mag b550 tomahawk wifi max. It ran everything from the first push of the power button. If can help a brother out, then, I would appreciate that very much.

Apparently I've seen alot videos and post about these new x870 motherboards from MSI. I might have to do a RMA but since I received the those products yesterday, I can take to my local store instead. Oh and here is a picture of the cpu socket after I install it with 100% precision.

Fixed: You really have to push down hard on the ram on these motherboard, especially the side that doesn't click.

Shoutout from the other side of the world.
Took my sweet time to properly assemble a new pc.

x870e carbon, 9800x3d, 2x32gb klevv.

And when I finally plug the power in and push the button ... C5 error with cpu red and memory orange.
Always a bit of a sweat drop on the temple moment.

After looking online for C5 without much success, I read your same scenario, and your answer to properly push the memory sticks.

Posting all the way to Bios success.
The funny thing is the exact same thing happened on my last setup 4 years ago on a B550 I now remember.

Anyway, BIG THANK YOU from Thailand for finding and actually providing the solution as an answer in your own post.

:o)

Really, really, push the ddr5 properly from the bottom to the top. This was my exact error message and properly pushing the ddr5 at the bottom solved this for me 1 hour ago.
I did push them in, until I heard each on click that they were seated properly. As turns out it was the socket, two bent pins in the middle. The socket cover was loose when I unpacked. So little did I notice that the cpu socket bent pins was the culprit. Anyhow, I returned the board and was able to get a Mag B650 Tomahawk, because X870 Tomahawk were all sold out.

Thanks for the reply though.

Ah, you guys in the us don know how good you have it with the return policies :)

Glad you sorted it out !
Having the machine not fully boot when you first press the power is such a 'oh crap' moment.
