There is No MSI gamepad device Connected.

Hello,

This happened randomly, but none of the RGB is working and the gamepad driver is just non-existent anymore. I did some update via Center M, but the day after, the gamepad just flat out doesn't work. The 4 function button works though so I can still open Quick Settings or Center M, but the other main gamepad buttons don't work anymore. Labeling everything I've done to show that I've actually done research. PLEASE MSI, PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE and can be fixed:
- I have already turned on/off the embedded controller within the quick settings
- I have already done an EC Reset 5 times at this point.
- I've updated everything I could, from drivers, graphics, and windows update. If I try to update the firmware (aka the gamepad firmware), I get a popup saying "There is no MSI Gamepad device connected"
- The only thing I can't update is the Gamepad Firmware since the MSI gamepad device is not connected.
- I've opened the device and made sure all the ribbon cables are not damaged and connected properly.
- I've done a whole factory reset via the MSI Recovery center and still no life when it comes to the Gamepad.
- I've checked Device Manager and there is no Xbox Controller in there since the gamepad is not even connected properly.
- I've tried going into Controller manager and nothing is popping up there.
I've never been so frustrated with the software that I want to throw this device away. Is there anyone who knows a fix for this issue?I feel like this is a driver issue and I've been on a hunt to find an older driver to see if that fixes things, but currently SOL trying to even find older driver files.
 
just try use embedded controller from msi quick setting turn off and then on again maybe can fix

hi there, I noticed I had an miss centre clean tool so I used that and downloaded msi Centre from their website. Looks like a new version ca,e out earlier this month. I hope it works for you but will still let you know what msi say
 
Same here… I’ve done all the same steps as well. I called tech support and luckily it’s still under warranty so that seems to be my only option left. I was beginning to believe there was a short somewhere in the game pad circuit, seeing that there both tied together (i.e if one goes they both go), but seeing that there are other people with the same exact problems there’s obviously either a design flaw or a software flaw… and soon or later every device is doomed!!!!
 
I get this every now and then and have to power off my console completely for it to start working again (rebooting does not fix it). It usually happens for me when I remote desktop into my handheld, but there could be other causes.

Going through this exact thing currently. I have tried all the same things you have. I am also missing my controller driver. It has been working fine until randomly yesterday when I booted it up.
 
Does the controller-missing problem occur after updating anything? Maybe the latest Center M update or else?
 
I think we both have the same issue. I've made a separate post in the handheld technical forum, but I'll post everything I have tried here:

  1. 1. EC resets, holding down power until the light blinks with no power plugged.
  2. 2. Uninstalling and reinstaling MSI center (multiple times)
  3. 3. Resetting MSI center within settings
  4. 4. Wiping the drive and reinstalling windows entirely, same deal
  5. 5. Installing a completely separate drive, reinstalling windows, no change
  6. 6. Within BIOS, loading default options, as well as disabling fast startup
  7. 7. Tried rolling back graphics drivers by uninstalling the drivers with DDU and reinstalling the drivers recommended in MSI center. Little change.
  8. 8. Toggling the Embedded Controller option in quick settings
  9. 9. When the Gamepad/Desktop function was working correctly between restarts/shutdowns/EC resets, I reinstalled the Firmware. It said update succesful, but the issue still returned later.
  10. 10. Disconnected the battery from the mobo for a few minutes, and reconnected
  11. 11. Checked the ribbon cables on the mobo, but was pretty sure it isn't physical damage or a disconnect as I've never dropped it, and its had a case around it since I have had it these last few months. LED's also often do show up during reboot initially, only to turn off when it reaches windows.
  12. 12. In Device Manager, I can clearly see a USB device throwing an error of Descriptor Failed. If I open up properties it's mentioning Code 43. I've both tried disabling/uninstalling it to see if it makes any difference. Uninstalling makes it dissapear for a moment, but it will re-appear with the same error after a few seconds. Disabling will disable it, but on restart. it's back to the same thing.
I'm honestly out of ideas, and have already submitted a request for RMA. Worst part of all this is my warranty expired litterally a week before this started, so no idea if they will still be able to honor that. Regardless, just wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this, or if you all had any other ideas. Thanks.

Would you please share the exact model name of your Claw? Different Claws come with different versions of firmware, which may have different problems.
