Ti 4400 Cold boot problem

Odd problem.

a) if i run a game anytime after a cold boot (even hours) I get flashing and tearing.

b) if i warm boot the problem disappears completely.

c) the problem seems independent of drivers.

d) the problem 'may' be related to Athlon XP2100+ Cpu because I don't remember it happening before installing this.

e) it happens with both Win Me and Xp

It's no big deal because it's easily done but annoying and I wonder why it happens.

what cooling and psu are you using? make sure the cpu fan is rated high enough. try underclocking you graphics card or at least making sure that it is on its default values.

If it was heat it would still accour when restarting. I also think it has something to do with you'r mobo.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the AMD guys. Surprised this problem seems unique to me!

I have seen some problems like the one you describe. It was a problem that the card does not work properly till it heats up.

Do try to troubleshoot it, but in this case I am going to guess it is in fact a bad card.

No, it's not a bad card and it's not a 'warm up' issue. The card worked fine until I put an Athlon 2100+ Xp in my A7M266 rev 1.05 board (bios 1007) . It's probably the board's bios or something as nobody else seems to have the problem with other boards.
