To all MSI gx660 and gx640 or gx740 users / starcraft 2 performance

I have the same issue with my GX 660.
I tried everything you guys suggested in this thread.

The problem seems to be limited to Starcraft 2, because games with better graphics run much better. I hope it is a driver problem and it will bee fixed soon.

Contact Blizzard support and ask them

i have a gx680 and it has minimal difference to a 660 - and sc2 shouldn't be a problem. heck, i run crysis 2 on this thing on ultra and im all ear to ear. just make sure that:

1) you are not on power saving mode
2) the exhaust to your lappy is not blocked
3) get the latest nvidia or ati driver
4) is your sc2 legit? i've heard of frame rate nightmares from sc2 malware hooks and such from dubious sources
5) we have a multi-tasking dream of a laptop, but too many running programs will eventually kill you

UPDATE!!!!!!

The problem was SERVICE PACK 1 for Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I noticed that games that were running fine when i got the notebook were running horrible after I got SERVICE PACK 1.
After I uninstalled Service Pack 1, everything is OK. make sure to deactivate automatic updates. It appears that SP1 has problem with other gaming mobile GPU's.

Hi,

I have GX660R and I'm experiencing exactly the same issue. Starcraft even on lowest settings after a while goes down to below 10 FPS.
Nothing and I mean noooooothing has worked (drivers, turbo on/off, power modes, permissions, overclocking, you name it I've done it). I will try and install Win7 without any service pack and hope it will work, but it better be worth the time spent in reinstalling everything.

Anyone tried it, to confirm whether it is working?

p.s. I'm with i5-450M, anyone with i7-720QM having issues?

In this case must be a bug in SC2. You should contact Blizzard.
