hi!
the newest v82 bios doesn't let me set any custom memory speed and timings and it reverts back to 4800mhz defaults.

Only way I get different speeds is if I enable expo on my 6400mt expo kit, then it works at 6400. Didn't try v81, but none of the other bios versions had this problem.

Have you tried updating the BIOS?

What custom memory speed have you tried? What CPU and RAM do you have?
Doesn't matter. I've got the same report on Reddit from someone else. He said cold booting twice fixed his problem. Though I've already switched back to the best bios by then, which is 24. Not gonna bother with ANY bios updates with this board from now on, MSI can hire paid professional QA testers, I'm not one of them.

BIOS v1A24 is quite old...
Maybe you could share your CPU and RAM specs so they (MSI) can try to reproduce and fix the problem?
It's better to share the RAM sticker picture as well.

Please note that you should blur out the barcode.
Reason: I’m not sure about regular barcodes,
but when it comes to PC parts,
it’s best to avoid posting barcodes whenever possible.
I recommend blurring out the barcode and then reposting the listing.

I used 1A24 upto 1A67 which brought many improvements, memory included. Now at 1A70 which works fine also. But if that version gives problems with your ram also then it's best to stay with what works. You can try the latest bios and simply reflash the working one of it doesn't work properly. But yeah, 1A24 is from January 2025, quite old already.
