top PCIE running x8

i know on both counts. looks like i have a black mark on some of the gold pins ( looks like a crack but not had anything else play up system wise)

That both sides of the pcb contacts ? And yes that might be your problem there its looks like physical dmg

i only saw it on the one side.

if they are where i think they are on the connector on the side i think that goes through 2 Signal Out pins and 2 Ground Pins on the connector and that would cause your Motherboard to Ignore the last 8 lanes.

from where it is that is going across the return Digital Signal pins for PCI-E lane 14 and if its on the other its right across the Input pins of Lane 14 instead and either of them 2 would auto limit it to 8 lanes
