i have greenpower utility installed for my x58 platinum motherboard, i like to use the msi greenpower utility and set it to "optimise", then it slows all my fans down, makes the sound much more acceptable as it was sounding like a jet engine, LOL, and also it saves a little electricity.

anyway, i know theres options in the bios for greenpower settings, but ive tried enabling them and disabling them and they dont appear to do anything, unless of course iam missing the point ??

I would like to have greenpower running from bios to slow the fans down etc, as it would save me having to turn it on manually from windows after every reboot, i know its not a big deal, but its just something thats bothering me.

does anyone understand and know what iam on about, and is there a way round this issue ??

Fan control in the bios is performed by H/W Monitor settings, Page 3-17. :rtfm: GreenPower in the bios, Page 3-18, only sets CPU, QPI, IOH, & DDR Phase Control, & LED Control. GreenPower Utility is active once in Windows. I would imagine the utility would have a start-up 'save' feature.

I set mine to auto in the bios, works perfectly.

thank you guys.

joker, when you say you set it to auto in bios, do you just mean like what hu16e says ?? what about the fans speeds, how do you get them to run slower and quieter yet at same time be able to speed up under stress ??

In the bios, H/W Monitor, only the CPU Fan can be set to vary in speed in unison with CPU temps. Sys Fan1/2/3 are set to a fixed percent. Page 3-17 of the manual, Bios Setup - H/W Monitor - CPU Smart Fan Target, & Sys Fan 1/2/3 Control.

Basically, that means only the CPU fan speed can be variable using the bios settings in H/W Monitor. Fans 1/2/3 can only be set to a fixed speed in bios. For those fans, they must be controlled using a utility while in Windows.
