TV@anywhere Plus - audio video sync probs

Hello all,  purchased my first tuner card. When both watching tv and capturing it, the sound is always slightly out of sync with the video. Being new to the world of tv tuner cards, I was wondering if this is normal. I seem to have done everything correctly on hook-up and driver installation. Got the latest drivers for the card from the MSI site. Also I always stay on top of the drivers for the rest of my PC. I only purchased the card to watch tv and record a show here and there as I have other means to capture video and audio from other sources. The sync problem drove me crazy after only a few moments of viewing and two short test captures. Below is a short configuration of my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P4 2.8 with Hyperthreading
2- 512meg Dual Channel DDR-SDRAM 400
SB Audigy 2 (9800)
ATI x800xtPE (AGP)
ABIT A17 Motherboard 800fsb
2- 80 gig SATA drives in Raid Stripe 0
2- 160 gig SATA drives

P.S. Tried the AV IO cable into both the mic and line in jacks on the Audigy 2 (audio and video are both fine, just out of sync)

Ok, you seem to have what it takes to capture video, that's for sure. ;)
What software are you running to watch/capture video?
Are you doing anything else during capturing?
I have one computer dedicated to video only so that I won't need to deal with virus protection and other stuff. That said, I did use my Celeron 2 Ghz computer to capture video and at the time I used it for Internet also and I didn't experience any sync issues.
Are you capturing in MPEG?
You probably are since you bought it mainly for watching and occasional recordings.
I capture video in AVI format using a Huffyuv codec since I want to edit the video afterwards. Tha downside with this is that it pushes the hard disks, processor and the whole system much more and the files are getting HUGE in comparison.
I have never lost a frame and have never had problems with sync issues since I started using iuVCR software.
If you need help configuring iuVCR, if you choose to test it, let me know, there are a few settings that can help you get perfect recordings.
But maybe you are interested in using the software that came with the card instead?

Thanks for your reply. I am not running any other apps, but I don't think the problem is with capturing as the capture plays exactly as I am seeing and hearing the tv. The out of sync problem occurs when I'm viewing the programs so I am assuming the capturing process is doing fine as the out of sync thing seems to be the same amount of delay in the audio on playback. I also failed to mention my OS. I'm running XP Pro. I have 2 OS's on my system - One for regular use and one for gaming (very bare bones to not have many processes running for improved gaming performance). I have installed the drivers and software on both OS's just to be sure and the results are the same. Another thing that may help (or not) is I am using cable. Thanx.

I can confirm the problem. I bought this card just today, and am a bit sad because of this bug. I could reproduce it with both of my soundcards, with an emu0404, and with the onboard nvidia one. So i think it's not soundcard related. When i switch on the tuner the sound is ok, but when i switch channels, the sound is slow, buggy, and goes out of sync. Tried with the latest (? 2005-06) drivers, but no success. I hope it will be fixed soon, beacuse i have an unusable tuner card at the moment.

My config is:

Asus A8N-SLI moboard, nforce4 chipset
3200+ a64 cpu
4x512MB 400MHz Kingston RAM
4x160GB Samsung SATA150 HDD
ATI X300 VGA
EMU 0404 soundcard, and an onboard Nvidia one
Win XP Pro Eng, SP2, latest drivers for all devices, no IRQ sharing conflicts

Hello, I am having the same problems with my anywhere plus card, I get an audio lag when recording.  You said you solved the problem, can you tell me how?
Thanks

Help, I am having the same problem ie sound out of sinc with video when replay of captured file / editing. Please dont roll eyes and say read detail in messages because I have tried this and I still dont understand. Can some one give a simpe explanation please. I have TV@anywhere-Plus that I want to use to capture old home videos, everything works well except for the out of sync problem which incidently also happens if I record off the TV signal! Also the sound quality is poor, sound distorted and as if recorded in a tin can! very echo like. I am no techno so need simple instructions for fixing the problem. Card is set to record YYY2, DVD(PAL) line in audio. I have checked the setup to the user instructions more than once but cannot find a setting to change that will fix this problem. Please help a "silver" PC user who wants to understand what is going wrong.

bjmatt says his solution was 'chris tv lite' That is some software. http://www.majorgeeks.com/ChrisTV_Lite_d4581.html
I haven't tried it yet.

i and many others have been plauged by this problem.  Im honestly considering complaining to msi for a functional product after paying 40 dollars for something that cant syncronize audio and video.

I have had all kinds of problems with mine, is a useless card when using the original software, radio worked "once" when using the regular output jacks to a set of 5.1 hercules. I was getting interface errors. T pin errors, was freezing, bottom line, not working at all. Try using nero 7, is working for me when it comes to video editing, sound good, video good, I just finished burning a piece of a movie and everything ok , now I need to see how I can get the radio to work. defenetly a card with a lot of issues. Hope they get out a working solution for this product.

note: Im using optical out to my surround, and set up is: output source ( digital), in onboard sound card configuration, and sampling output rate at 96K hz. I do however have the tuner card audio jack goin in thru the input(blue)jack of the sound card

running xp pro sp2
gigabyte GA 8l945p Pro

2 G DDR2 667 dual channel
1 maxtor pata 200  7200 /16mb

Hello all,  purchased my first tuner card. When both watching tv and capturing it, the sound is always slightly out of sync with the video.

It was just a couple of days ago when I am abled to make the audio work for my MSI TVR since I bought it 2 weeks ago and I am still in the process of exploring and doing some testing on the product. ;D

At first I am also having this problem. In my case when I play the captured video and do a skipping or fast-forwarding, that's the time the audio and video will not be synchronized. The video is slightly ahead over the audio. But when playing the captured video normally without fast-forwarding it works fine, no problema, audio and video are always synchronized up to the end. (2 1/2 hrs.)

I thought of that would only happen when I play the captured video while it's still in the hard-disk. So I  burned and transferred the captured video (2 1/2 hrs.) to a disc. (I used DVD.) But to my dismay same thing happened. Video and audio not synchronized when I do a fast-forwarding. But then again, playing the disc normally is fine. Sound strange isn't? :noidea:

I don't know if the "Capture Quality" on the video setup of TVR has something to do with the "audio-video synchronization". Since this is not really been explained clearly in the User's Manual of what are the uses of this and what is this for. :rtfm:

Anyway, if you haven't tried this yet, try to change the "Capture Quality" to "NORMAL". (default is set at FASTEST) I only tried three different settings - FASTEST, HIGHEST, and NORMAL.

But honestly speaking I really can't see the difference when I started playing the captured videos on three different settings. But somehow it resolved my problem. Audio and Video are now synchronized even when I do fast-forwarding. :-)) Am I just lucky or what? :duck:

One more thing, don't forget to change the record Audio Quality Level and set it at 100% always. (default is set at 32% or something) I've tried different settings for this one. And setting the audio record level at 100% will give you good clearer audio output.

Hope this will works on you too. :-))
