Hello,

When I enable the Memory XMP Profile 1 to get DDR-3600 speeds, the system becomes unstable exhibited by unexpected hard reboots.
It has occurred under load and when idle.

Additionally, in the Windows Event Viewer, many WHEA-Logger warning events are generated when XMP is enabled. See inside attached file for warning details. (Event ID 19)
After the hard reboot I can also see a few WHEA-Logger errors as well. (Event ID 18)

However, if I disable the XMP profile, I do not see any WHEA-Logger warnings nor errors in the Windows Events viewer. I have not witnessed any unexpected reboots with XMP disabled yet.

Of course, I would like to use the XMP profiles for full system performance with the Ryzen 5950X CPU. :)

I submitted a ticket to MSI about it, but wanted to report here for others if they encounter this issue.

I'd like to know if others are experiencing this as well.

Thanks in advance for your support and discussion.

BIOS ver: 7C94v14

Generally this hasn't been an issue with the B550 boards as much as the X570.....but it doesn't surprise me.
However, as fatedust has suggested, I would update to that beta bios and see if that fixes the situation.
As far as the WHEA hardware error events, it's a known issue and MSI has been in contact with AMD about it. That's really all I know regarding that issue at this time.

I found a Beta BIOS E7C94AMS.148 for your board in this thread:
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/msi-x570-b550-beta-bios-update.348919/
MAG B550M MORTAR/WIFIE7C94AMS.148
Give it a try?
Thank you fatedust. I will hold off on the beta BIOS as in the case for B550 I am hearing it does not resolve the issue. X570 seems they can't even boot with RAM beyond 1600Mhz. Their beta BIOS resolves it. WIth B550 you can boot with 1800Mhz but exhibits these issues. That is my current understanding, I could be wrong with what limited data/reports I have seen. In any case, I'd feel more comfortable using a non-beta BIOS (even though evidently that the so-called 'stable' BIOSes are seemingly beta-quality! ;) )

I have similiar problems on B550 Tomahawk + 5950X.
With 3900X everything was stable.
With Zen3 there are many WHEA bus errors. However my PC works with XMP 3600MHz.

Beta Bios .A45 didn't solve the WHEAs.

There's a new Beta BIOS posted on the main BIOS download page (7C94v152). @mwnuk.wp153a02db would you please test it and see if the WHEA errors go away? I am still too cautious to try a Beta BIOS from them, but since you've tried the other Beta BIOS perhaps you are more brave than I. :)

The 152 update fixed my WHEA errors. Running 1900 FCLK on my 5800x / B550m Mortar WiFi.

The firs 4 digits stay the same for you board only the last 2 change 7C91 is you board code. Not the Bios Version

And it looks Like it is for the New GPU being released so they may be about to be sent out to reviewers for testing could explain the new BETA Bios

Hi, I do have the same Issues like the the Thread Opener.
I'm on MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi with 5950X .
I tried latest stable (7C91v14 ) and beta ( E7C91AMS.144 from forum).

Both same issue.
Can't get any higher fclk then 1600 to get stable (with memclock in sync), otherweise WHEA errors.

Any beta bios for my board available or planned?

I'm confused. For my board - B550 Tomahawk MS-7C91 - the lastest BIOS available comes from Nov-04. The same for the others board starting from 7C91 (like Gaming Edge Wifi).

The boards starting from 7C94 (Mortar) have just got new BIOS yesterday on Nov-13. Are you saying that it is only board number and 7C94 BIOS can be uploaded to 7C91?

I don't think you understand the Code 7C91 is what MSI tech will call your board it is the Boards Identification Code. The Bios version is the digits after that.
The X570 Gaming Edge Wifi Board code is 7C37 and that is not the same as yours. And my Board the B550 Mortar WI-FI is 7C94

And using any Bios but the one for your model of Motherboard will if you are lucky refuse to be recognised, if your not lucky it will Brick your Computer. Never Flash your Motherboard with the Bios from another model no matter how much they may resemble each other.

Ok. I think you didn't understand . The user Ajaguck asked me a few post before to try the new BIOS ( 7C94v152). I answered that I am on Tomahawk and need Bios for 7C91 - meaning board ID not BIOS version.
Anyway, no new one for Tomahawk yet, I hope they will release it just after weekend.
