Hi Svet,
I have an MSI GT72 2QD Dominator, board MS-1781, with an i7-4720HQ CPU. Current firmware:
BIOS: E1781IMS.110
EC: 1781EMS1 Ver5.08
I'm trying to upgrade from the stock GTX 970M to a GTX 1070 MXM (chip N17E-G2-A1, non-G-Sync, Device ID 10DE.1BE1).
The card doesn't get detected at all — it doesn't even show up as an unknown device in Windows Device Manager, so I believe the system BIOS whitelist is blocking it before the OS even gets involved.
I don't have my BIOS dump ready yet, but I'll follow up with it as soon as I can (I understand you need it to prepare a custom file). In the meantime, I wanted to ask:
Is this something you can help with for this specific board/GPU combo?
Does flashing your modified BIOS require an external SPI programmer (CH341A), or can it be done via software on this model?
Roughly how long does this usually take?
