Hello, I have a B450 Gaming pro carbon ac, with a ryzen 5 3600 and a 2060, I would like to change both parts for a ryzen 7 5800X and a 4070 ti.
I have read that to do this I have to update the bios.
My questions:
Is it a good idea to make this change?
If I update I will no longer be able to use my Ryzen 5 3600?
I have version: 255.555 (I think)

All Ryzen Branded CPUs will Work with the latest Bios it is just the CPU before Ryzen that may not work
Should all work well with this Bios Version

Nice Upgrade

I would say yes but also you may want to upgrade your PSU to a quality 700+ Watt unit

I am in the process of updating one of my computers - B450 Gaming pro carbon ac - upgrading from a Ryzen 5 2600x to a R5 5600x. Trying to stay on the inexpensive side. I was in a quandary of which BIOS to use. Use the latest BIOS that has the security updates 7B85v1H4 (Beta version) that came out in September or the last officially verified released BIOS that had added newer CPU's 7B85V1G. I chose the Beta release thinking there might be some other updates in this BIOS besides the security updates and to be secure is a good thing too - although I think it is pretty remote chance I would need it. I used the FLASH button and that went OK.
A couple of weird things after loading the new BIOS - I had to change back to legacy mode for the Windows OS SSD and then I got into Windows 10. I lost my Red and black background on the BIOS screen and the screen is grayish with white letters. Also the format was different too - no graphics like the dragon and no Easy mode. Also no graphical fan interface. I had read somewhere there was not enough memory in the BIOS memory allocation. It looks something like below.

Windows is fine - in fact it might be a little faster to boot into windows. I ran the MSI center and got things updated - all good.
I have not installed the CPU yet - hoping that goes well tomorrow.
Going to upgrade from a 6600 to a 6750. I have a VGA 750 W PSU.
I wonder if I went with the last official BIOS release if I would have kept my Red and Black BIOS screens - a nicer interface than the Grey and white.
