The topic I want to discuss with everyone today is how to upgrade your own MSI Nightblade X2 gaming desktop. Although every gamers here are familiar with assembling a desktop, I still begin with introduction of a desktop?s basic components for the gamer who are new to gaming world. Hope you like this!!!

A gaming desktop is assembled by several dedicated components. And these components cooperate with each other perfectly to support a desktop. Therefore a gaming desktop can?t run normally without any of these components.

The main components of a desktop:
lCPU: The most important calculating unit in a desktop. Just like the brain of human.
lMB: Work as a bridge to connect every units of a desktop. Every units should work through MB.
lRAM: Temporarily store data for CPU and GPU.
lVGA: This unit is responsible for the quality of gaming. The image of gaming is calculated and produced by it.
lHDD: Storage space. There are traditional Hard Disk and Solid-state Disk in current market.
lODD: CD-ROM drive
lPower: Deliver the electricity to desktop. Desktop can?t be boot without it.

Alright! Let?s get into our topic: Ugrade Your Own MSI Nightblade X2 Gaming Desktop. Today we want to upgrade our graphics cards, RAM, cooling system

Step 1
Remove graphics card
When we upgrade Nightblade X2, I strongly suggest removing graphics card first. Not only ensure graphics cards won?t be damaged during process but also make more space.
First, pull out the power cord carefully.
[attachthumb=3]

Second, disassemble the bracket by screwdriver

Third, push the latch and remove the graphics card

Step 2
Remove cooling
No doubt that the temperature of machine will influence the efficiency of it. Therefore, we should choose cooling based on cpu?s wattage. Then our cpu can be protected well.
[attachthumb=4]
First, release the four screws on the fan

Second, open the left side cover, and remove the CPU bracket

Third, coat a little thermal grease on cooling and align cooling with cpu?s base.

Fourth, chose the right spec of cooling, and re-install it carefully, especially DO NOT crash the CPU pin on the motherboard.

Step 3
Upgrade RAM

Recommend everyone to choose the same standard and manufacturer in order to avoid boot failure caused by hardware conflicting.
First, choose the RAM with the same standard from the same manufacturer
[attachthumb=5]
Second, push the latch on both sides. Then pull out and replace new RAM.
[attachthumb=6]

Step4
Install new graphics card
[attachthumb=7]
First, align graphics card with slot to install
Second, lock the bracket
Third, connect the power cord
Then we finish our work!!!!

For this time , I also install some led light to decorate my Nightblade X2

I am about to purchase this machine and need some help.  I will be purchasing a geared one w/ i7 6700K & GTX1060 6GB, I am worried about cooling though.  I live in Puerto Rico, and my home is not air conditioned, so temperatures range from mid 80s F ( ~28C) to high 90s F ( 35C).  My question is how efficient would the pre-installed fans be in this machine?  My current laptop reaches 85 degrees C when gaming, and of course, I can't compare cooling with a laptop considering design, but still a valid question.  Right now that's why I am looking for this kind of upgrade.

Thank you in advance to anyone that can provide any answer on this... PM if needed.

GPU will handle the temps fine. They run very cool (assuming you get the Gaming version).
As far as the CPU I do not know what cooler specifically will be installed, and what thermal paste. But I guess that in such hot country, they will not put cheapest cooler.
In worst scenario you might have to replace the CPU cooler with something different than it will come with.

I plan to buy it from Newegg which Delivers to Puerto RIco (US) at considerable low prices.  The system comes with I believe a few fans, but I am thinking of replacing CPU one with a liquid cooler.  Problem is I can't find (or rather don't know how to find it) which cooler fits this unit.

Regretfully their "tech" support sent me here.  I posted the question on the support part of MSI to check if I also void the warranty by doing so.  Since the machine looks great. I plan to play BF1, Black Desert Online, GTA5, and any other good tittle that comes in the future.

Hi

Not really recommended to mix the RAM. Even if same speed, size or even colour of the heatsink. I guess each country/region will have used different RAM brand, so nothing to advise you really. Just get a 2x8GB kit.

Thanks for sharing this guide with us.
I bought the X2-056 last year and for reason the 3.5 inch (d drive) started acting strangely (opening any folder in d sends the cpu usage to 100%) so i have 2 TB 2.5" SSHD and want to add it to the X2. I am wondering if i can use all three (m.2 ssd, 3.5 & 2.5 ") at the same time or is there any limitations? Really appreciated.

I just got an X2B-249CA and wanted to increase my SSD storage. I see NVMe/m.2 drives are decreasing.

I opened it up and can't really find an m.2 slot. Is there an available slot somewhere that I am not seeing?

EDIT: Nevermind! Found it on the BACK.. as listed in the specs haha

Hi guys

I have the i5 - 6400 in my nightblade and wondered how difficult it will be to upgrade the CPU to the i7-6700 ?

Would also like to buy an extra 8gig stick of RAM. Eay to find?

Thanks

What is that cooling system installed? Product name and number if possible please.
Is there some other cooling system to recommend? Liquid, water?
Is there a maximum size to keep in mind before buying?

thanks for the guide. i'm currently having power supply issues, whenever i run games and it gets past loading my pc automatically restarts. its not a thermal issue. my best guess is under powered / dying pcu or psu. i ran furmark and as soon as i hit go it restarts. i'm running NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB. i cant find any specs on the power supply besides MSI uses 500w 80plus silver. i want to upgrade but don't want to go through the trouble of pulling it all apart as the psu is pretty deep in the case to measure it and wait for an order while my pc sits in pieces. anyone have the sizing specs that will fit in the X2?

Hi I need a new mb for my nightblade x2b, but having trouble finding one that will fit. Do ypu have any ideas what mb could fit in it?
I'm think mini atx/itx both im worried about the speacil cable for front panel
