Hi Everyone,
Nice to meet you

Glad I found this forum seems lively. So I wish i could find an answer here.

I have an MSI Modern 15 A10RBS which i bought in early December 2020. I had memory upgraded from 8GB to 16GB using another vaccant slot.
since then i started to experience random browser crash and a blue screen at some occasion. it doesn't always happening but it sometimes happen at the wrong time. I try to find the answer on the Internet and leads me to assume it is memory problem.

The built-in memory and an additional memory have similar brand and specification. it is samsung sodimm ddr4 8gb 3200Mhz memory. i had the additional one on the local online marketplace.

though the same spec, it has a different part number. the built-in memory is M471A1K43DB1-CWE and the additional is M471A1K43CB1-CWE. the built-in has product name 8GB 1Rx8 PC4-3200AA-SA1-11 and the additional has 8GB 2Rx8 PC4-3200T-SA0-10.

I already perform some troubleshooting like memtest, upgrading bios and ec firmware but none of those work to my problem. the memtest didn't show any sign of memory problem. But i still believe it has something to do with the memory.

the Question, are those part number and product name differences affect memory coordination in dual mode or is there any configuration that i could perform to make those two work together?

Anyone having the same issue like me? is there any experience you can share with me?

I thank you for your kind response.

Will the problem remain if remove the additional memory?
If the problem disappears, then it means the additional memory may not be compatible with your laptop.

The problem disappears with single memory operation whether it run with the built-in or an additional one. The problem happen only when both memory running together. I've also done a slot swap in case there was a problem with the slot but the result are the same. they're doing fine with single operation but problem with dual operation.
