I have an MSI Summit E15 laptop connected to an MSI USB-C dock.. I have been using this setup from inception however over the last few months every now and then when I plug my laptop back into the dock and turn it on the dock powers off... Yesterday when connected it to the dock the same thing happened and when I powered on the dock I got an error message that windows did not recognize the USB device and it would only allow power delivery, network connection and monitor output. None of the USB-A ports would work. I tried a few times to restart my computer and the dock with no success. I then plugged the dock into the second USB-C port on the computer and everything started working again. Does this mean that I have a faulty USB-C port? There are no driver errors in Device manager when the dock is unplugged or when plugged into the second USB-C port but shows errors when plugged into the first port.

Did you try other devices in the port to know if the culprit is the port or the dock?
