I've noticed that some of the usb connections when attached to external hard drives can be a bit flaky - sometimes they don't connect and need removing and re-inserting.
Wonder if upgrading to the latest bios might improve this. The bios I'm using is not the latest.
Any observations?

May not fix the USB stuff, but I would update to latest anyways. There may be security updates in it.

The two usb2 receptacles on the front panel of my case have been flaky. It doesn't matter if it's a printer or usb drive. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it drops the connection after a few minutes. The backpanel usb connectors have been rock solid as they are part of the motherboard. I blame my case. So it depends on which usb ports you have tried.

Thanks. It's the back panel which sometimes drop briefly before re-connecting. Not the best for file transfer or file conversion. I need to try the 6tb hard disk on another computer to see if its the external drive at fault.
