VGA mobo LED & “No Display” on monitor

Hello.

I’ve stumbled upon some old posts here with the same issue, the VGA motherboard LED & “No Display” combo.

I’ve tried all the following:
BIOS reset
CMOS batter reset
GPU reseat
PC Boot with only 1 out of 2 ram sticks.
Removed both of my SSDs, booted with none, got “No signal”
Boot with no CMOS battery inside.

I reset the battery at some point in the beginning of my troubleshooting and my PC somehow turned on but I noticed that only 1 ram stick was read.
Opened it up, made sure they’re both in, tried to reboot and ended up back to square one.

I truly don’t know if my GPU is faulty or my RAMs or the MOBO either.

Is there any further advice perhaps?

My specs are the following:
AMD Radeon 6700 XT
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
Kingston Fury Renegade 32GB DDR4 RAM 2x16 3600mhz
MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Max WiFi Motherboard ATX
Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0 & Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD 2TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0
Corsair RMx Series RM750x (2021) 750W 80 Plus Gold

What is the backstory of this system? Newly built, and it never booted properly? Or did it work fine before, and this issue appeared overnight?

A Clear CMOS is always good to try, of course, but taking out the CMOS battery is basically already the same thing, and it makes no sense to try to boot without it. The CMOS battery is there to store any custom BIOS settings. In some rare cases, the BIOS settings can get messed up, then a Clear CMOS can help, but in other cases, something else is wrong, then several experiments like this will not help. Also, once the board is powered up, the CMOS battery is not used anyway, it's only there to store the settings when the power is off.

Since your board has the Flash BIOS Button, I would say, try to flash the BIOS to the latest version with that.

1. Download the latest BIOS from the MSI support site for your board and extract it. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK-MAX-WIFI/support
2. Take a USB stick and format it to FAT32 (it's best for it to have a size of 32 GB or less). You can also try Rufus for formatting, as FAT32 non-bootable.
3. Rename the extracted (!) BIOS file to MSI.ROM and save it to the root of your USB flash drive / USB stick (not in a subfolder).
4. Plug the USB flash drive / USB stick that contains the MSI.ROM file into the marked Flash BIOS Port (!) on the rear I/O panel.
5. With the PC off, press the Flash BIOS Button, and the LED should start flashing for about 5-8 minutes and then the board reboots.

Anything drastically different (under a minute of flashing, or over 10 minutes of flashing) and the flashing didn't work, so you can abort and try with a different USB stick (sometimes the board can be very picky as to which USB drive it will accept). After ten minutes it will never finish.

Sorry, I got caught with work.
This is a build since September 2022, the same error had happened before like twice, but clearing the CMOS battery & turning off the PSU and waiting did the job.

I remember leaving my pc on sleep mode before I go to work, I come back and it’s suddenly off then boom, VGA LED & “No signal” message.
To be frankly honest, my pc is on sleep mode most of the time, and there has been no issue. I turn it completely off when im away from home for more than a day or two.

As for the BIOS flashing procedure I will go ahead and proceed and let you know how it goes soon.

So I just went with the bios flash process, followed your aforementioned steps. At some point during the flashing, my PC restarted. I believe that was after about 6 minutes once I plugged the USB stick.

I assumed it was finished. Then so I restarted it to no avail. Although now the CPU light is not and not the VGA

Six minutes of flashing sounds about right, so we can assume that the latest BIOS version is flashed now. If it shows the VGA LED, then I would try to borrow a different graphics card for a test. You could also test your card in a different PC, if it also causes problems there, it's definitely the cause. If it doesn't cause problems, it's still a bit inconclusive until you test with a different card in your own PC.

What exact brand (which board partner like PowerColor, XFX, Sapphire etc.) and model is your 6700 XT? I want to research if there are similar problems reported with it.

It’s a Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0.

Ill see if I can fetch a buddy’s GPU and vice versa to test further.

Ok. Seeing some reports about various 6700 XT cards giving trouble here and there. Let's wait until you can test with another card.

A friend of mine had similar issues, and "it somehow resolved itself" when he tried connecting the monitor in different ways—sometimes via DisplayPort and other times via HDMI, both on the same GPU. And vice versa. Once he got it working with one connection type, the other one started working too...
But that was a completely different configuration of motherboard, CPU, and GPU...
