Hello everyone,

Just to inform you, I tried updating the BIOS today (01/22/25) using the following link:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support

Version: 7E51v1A24

I updated the BIOS without any particular issues, but after the reboot, the PC kept restarting in a loop (without displaying anything on the screen!).

I tried clearing the CMOS = no result.

I also tried re-downloading the BIOS and using the button on the back of the motherboard = no result.

I started to panic a little, so I reverted to the BIOS version from 01/02/25 (7E51v1A2), reflashed it using the button on the back of the motherboard, and the PC booted up normally!

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Thanks.

Merci

Strange ..

I made a video for you so you can better understand:

BIOS version that doesn't work: 7E51v1A24 (2025-01-22)

BIOS version that works:
7E51v1A2 (02/01/2025)

P.S.: The noise you hear in the video isn’t from the PC 😂, it’s my Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra vacuum cleaner 😂

My setup:

  • Processor: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • Graphics card: MSI RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 (4 x 8 GB) 6000 MHz - CL30

Did you check what the motherboard debug code says when it loops?

I have 9800X3D and 2x16GB Corsair 6000C30 RAM.

Good to know though. I just downloaded the previous 1A2 BIOS onto a USB stick in case there is a problem.

It’s probably not a good idea to flash a new BIOS the day it was released. I had issues getting EXPO to stay on so I did because of that. Will hold on in the future unless they pull this version completely.

I left the same message on Reddit.

Someone seems to have the same issue as me, with the same setup.

@malinen.teem157d02e0 Would you mind testing it as well since you also have the same setup as us? This would help us see if the issue really occurs consistently or if we're just isolated cases. Thank you!

I have been running 1A24 since this morning. No issues with it so far. I’m not sure what more I can test to help.

I have been running 1A24 since this morning. boot is too fast now and no issue. I got new ssd now

(ORICO M2 NVMe SSD 512GB, PCIe 4.0 x 4 O7000)

and installed in 4 slot, can't see it. in 2 and 3 work.

in slot 3 work at 3000 mb/s in slot 2 work at 7000 mb/s. any advice? usb4 disabled in bios for slot 2.

Another tested quality bios - not a BETA, of course - from MSI. :deadlaugh: I wait at least 3 weeks before I even think about installing the BIOS. My previous experience with MSI has been far too bad.

Lastest(01/22) msi BIOS is the most unstable BIOS I've encountered so far. In my case, after updating the BIOS, I used the CMOS CLEAR button to reset the BIOS, and the system started rebooting endlessly, just like the issue described by the author. After forcibly shutting down the computer and clearing the CMOS again, the system booted normally, but that wasn’t the main issue. After installing this BIOS, Windows started lagging heavily right from the login screen, and for the first time with this motherboard, a blue screen appeared. In a panic, I googled the issue and found an X870E Carbon user who experienced the exact same problem(blue screen after stuttering) after updating to lastest BIOS. In the end, I rolled back to version A1G(unofficial), and everything has been stable since.

I'm using 7800x3d pbo enable(no co) / essencore hynix a-die 16x2 6000cl32 / firecuda 530 2tb, samsung 980 pro 2tb / Win11 23H2

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I updated the BIOS of B650m-p motherboard from here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B650M-P/support and AMD chipset from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/previous-drivers.html/chipsets/am5/b650.html. Afterthat the SATA controller driver was not suitable and there is one M.2 SSD available and the other SSD and two HDD are desapeared from Windows. The hard drives are visible in the BIOS but in Windows not. I tried to restore chipset and BIOS but that was not successful. Do you have any idea to solve this problem?

Even worse than 7E51v1A1F?
I've used all the BIOS versions since the release version, and while I've encountered USB-related bugs and slower boot times, but Windows stuttering and blue screen only started happening with the A24 BIOS. Since I’ve only been using XMP and PBO Enable, this is the first time I’ve experienced a blue screen in the past 5-6 years.

Flashed this morning and just finished all my basic stress testing for my previous settings. All is working great, better actually. Minimum FPS in Alan Wake 2 went up a bit and the system is noticeably snappier even in just basic Windows tasks. :)

Some people are happy when the board doesn't crash and shout it to the world. But you have to lower your expectations of a product to a minimum. I won't be installing the latest BIOS straight away. I've already lost/wasted enough time with the board.

Well maybe, but a lot of us just know how to install a motherboard. Best of luck to you young lady.

Been running BIOS Ver: 7E51v1A1F since it was released upgraded from the Launch BIOS and has been solid the whole time.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 7 9700X
  • RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 64GB 6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO ( CMH64GX5M2B6000Z30 )
