Hello everyone,

Just to inform you, I tried updating the BIOS today (01/22/25) using the following link:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support

Version: 7E51v1A24

I updated the BIOS without any particular issues, but after the reboot, the PC kept restarting in a loop (without displaying anything on the screen!).

I tried clearing the CMOS = no result.

I also tried re-downloading the BIOS and using the button on the back of the motherboard = no result.

I started to panic a little, so I reverted to the BIOS version from 01/02/25 (7E51v1A2), reflashed it using the button on the back of the motherboard, and the PC booted up normally!

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Thanks.

Went ahead and upgraded to the latest firmware. Also installed the newest chipset driver and all is running well. Re-setup my PBO setting, EXPO and other BIOS settings. So far no issues, seems to run a little quicker as well.

Update: Had to roll back to BIOS Ver: 7E51v1A2. Was getting unknown device in device manager, did not notice it right away. Once I rolled back to Ver: 7E51v1A2 that was fixed.

You just have to install the new chipset driver (as stated on the MSI website) then the unknown device is gone.

I did install the new chipset driver but no joy.

I had the same issue at first with the unknown device still showing in device manager but I had only selected the options which required an update and not already installed / up to date according to the amd installer. What worked for me was running the installer again and selecting all options regardless if they were up to date and on the second reboot it was detected and no longer unknown.

I had all options selected. BIOS Ver: 7E51v1A2 is running good for me. I will avoid this new buggy BIOS and wait for a better one as I still have a random 0d error on some restarts, not all the time but from time to time. I have experienced this error with every BIOS I have used so far. All other aspects work fine other than that error. I am hoping MSI will eventually work out all these bugs with a later BIOS.

Did you report the error to MSI support? Seems like this is just like the intermittent Led 10 error which hasn't been fixed since last 2 months.

Could you guys check this for me? When I show hidden devices in Device Manager, I can see 'Other Devices' > 'Unknown Device (USB4 Host Router).' The device instance path is 'USB4\VIRTUAL_POWER_PDO'. This unknown device has been there since day one, regardless of the BIOS or chipset driver version. I thought it might just be an issue with the buggy beta BIOS, so I’ve ignored it until now. But since no one seems to mention this, I’m starting to wonder if it’s a problem specific to my motherboard. Do you also see this in your Device Manager? (need to enable 'Show hidden devices' to see it.)

Are you guys not getting insane latency spikes with the Realtek lan drivers enabled? I have to disable them to get any semblance of stability. Its pretty annoying

After disabling I finally got over an hour in latencymon without it detecting an issue. With it enabled, i get errors in a minute or two.

I have not seen this issue on my Mobo

Same problem with X870e Carbon Wifi, updating BIOS to A23 causes boot loop.

MSI has really done fd up this time.

Has anyone noticed that when changing things in this BIOS in particular under the advanced options area for PBO, it will sometimes say "No changes" when you go to save?
Have had this happen multiple times already when trying to adjust CO.

yeah, it doesnt seem to know when you set an undervolt in curve optimizer lol. it does save tho

It behaves the same way when altering figures on AMD overclocking page. It will save them but without any notice.

Do either/any of you have stable undervolt settings? I'm failing OCCT even with -10 and -5 all core, I don't get it. I ended up having to reflash the bios actually because I couldn't get it to take the stock settings back again, which is weird as hell. Also I'm either the unluckiest 9800x3d buyer alive, or I'm doing something wrong. I'm not overclocking anything, just setting a CO, but I didn't have any luck with stability on the previous bios for this either...

Same, ANY PBO CO settings start making OCCT fail, though I'm on a x870e Carbon Wifi. Seems that their BIOS issues are on both the MPG and the MAG though.
