Just a heads up...I should of checked here 1st I guess as I see it happening on the Tomahawk too......

Happen to me yesterday going from V16>V17 via M-Flash

RMA is the only fix I have been told - 2-4 week wait - not possible , it is my new CAD Workstation.....

I have reported it and spoken to TS , but the Bios is still up on the support page.....

For official answer you need to open a ticket with MSI.
I have also made my contacts aware, but what will happen next is up to them.
Humm well speaking of BIOS the option to select PCIE 4 or 3 Even AUTO for CPU had gone in the Beta Bios for MAG B550 Mortar wifi

I opened a ticket already as i told u above, but never got a straight answer..
Fun fact is that the BIOS update is still up for download on official site and i can see more people coming here with bricked mobos sooner or later.

That's a shame MSI..

Have you tried to tweek some of the settings of the new BIOS after the update (OC, XMP, Voltage etc) to see how it goes, or left it by default?
Yep they seem to be fine A-XMP working as well as PBO working as normal Core selection for fastest core select is working

It's being tested, that's all I've been told. But they are aware of the issue now, at least.

I already updated the BIOS from 7C79v16 to 7C79v17 for Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi and i had no issues so far, and already enabled XMP, fast boot and did some fan curvs but no CPU OC
But my question here do i need to revet back to 7C79v16 to prevent any issue in the future or keep using 7C79v16?

Motherboard: Z490 Gaming Edge WIFI
CPU: 10700KF
RAM: 32GB on 3200Mhz XPM Profile

and does anyone know the fixes or features of BIOS E7C79IMS.173 beta?

Oh well, I didn't even know about this issue until I flashed the BIOS using the dragon centre's own flash function. Now it's also on CPU LED, I opened a ticket and not sure how long it'll take for the support team to reply to me!

I had this issue around a month ago when I updated the BIOS on my Gaming edge Wifi. Completely bricked it with the CPU debug light showing. MSI refused to RMA it, so I had to go through my insurance company who replaced it. Shocking to see that the update is still available to install when it's so damaging. Very poor performance from MSI and will not be buying their products again if this is the level of support and quality.

MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi bricked with the CPU debug light on here.
Why are they knowingly killing the products we bought from them?
I just tried to update the BIOS 3 hours ago.
Here I sit, in front of a dead computer, contemplating life again?
Why is the motherboard bricking BIOS update still up on their website?

My MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS motherboard just came back from RMA after 2 months due to BIOS update.. everything is working fine now but i have a question about my BIOS version that came back (see picture)

Should i try to download the new BIOS version that bricked my M/B last time, or should i leave it in this version?

you should not update it as you have no issues. my z490 tomahawk bricked yesterday and need to unplug everything and uninstall it to go 80 kms for service why take risk?

Skip the offending version and wait for the next one. I see no indication that MSI has taken any action yet, they still serve potentially dangerous updates for some Z490 boards. So whatever went wrong with that specific update, it can happen again, i don't think your board is immune against it now.

I'm guessing it only brick some but not all Z490 boards so it not a big concern yet.
