Hello MSI community,
I purchased an MSI H510M PRO-E motherboard with an Intel Core i5-10400F (10th Gen, LGA1200). Both items are brand new and under warranty.
I submitted a warranty claim with a shop in Sri Lanka (https://www.nexlanka.com/), but they informed me that MSI H510 boards are discontinued and offered a Biostar motherboard as a replacement. t.
It has now been over a month since I submitted the claim, and no replacement or resolution has been provided. The shop has not given any technical explanation for the motherboard failure — it might have been VRM/power related, but I don’t know the exact cause.
I am seeking guidance from MSI:
I want to ensure that the replacement follows MSI’s official warranty policy and that my CPU + motherboard combo remains fully supported.
Any advice or experiences from MSI staff or community members would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chamod Shehan

I am seeking guidance from MSI:
- Is it acceptable under MSI warranty to replace a motherboard with a different brand?
- If the original model is discontinued, what type of replacement does MSI consider appropriate — same brand, equal tier, or an upgrade?
- How should I proceed when the local shop is unable to provide a timely replacement?
I want to ensure that the replacement follows MSI’s official warranty policy and that my CPU + motherboard combo remains fully supported.
Any advice or experiences from MSI staff or community members would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
