Is it the ambient temperature inside the case.. or how hot the motherboard is. Someone please let me know.. Im having wierd heat issues.. :(

Core Center is saying my System temp is 42c and my cpu is 47c.. while idling. Are these too high?

The thermometer on my case is reading 95f which is about 35c.

CFAN1 connector relays power and temperature readings of the cpu while the SFAN1 connector relays mobo temps. The motherboard has a native "system hardware monitor chipset" that when used, a fan with a speed sensor feature can control the fan speed for the cpu (PWFAN1 and PWFAN2 connectors) and most likely relay temperature information.

See page 2-18 of the users manual for more info!

Case temperatures should be lower than the actual temps on the motherboard and your readings seem to be O.K.

I dont think something is right. I turned on my computer 30 minutes ago, after it being off for 12 hours. Go into bios, check the temp.. they were all at room temp as they should be. Then they slowly move up..

I get into windows, run Core Center. Start to browse the internet, check the temp about 15-20 mins later, My CPU is at 50c and my system is at 45c. This just doesnt seem normal.

i assume u have enabled cool n quiet in the bios and set the windows power management to minimal and dont forget to install the AMD CPU driver... then the cpu should downclock and cool down .. i wouldnt have thought it would be 100% active just web browsing

What amd cpu driver are you talking about? I dont remember installing anything like that..

Unless you are talking about this here

Hi
Also depends on ventilation, and how many fans you have, just check that there are no cables obstructing flow of air from CPU fan. If its in a tight case, under a desk, where there is little movement of air, they heat up quickly, try a CPU without HS or fan, don't last many seconds before it fries.

On another point, COZMAN, are you up to date with the XP64 drivers, whats available, I read you said the Realtek works, mine don't, reports unable to load as error. Any way of internet access, thought I'd be smart and fit a lan card, but we know what thought did.

All the cables are wrapped up nicely, I have 4 fans, have tried them in different configurations.

The room temperature is 80f.. that might contribute to it some, but it still seems like it runnung hot.

The system temp used to idle at around 33c, now its 46.

Hi
I have just checked the bios in this machine, it is on 20/7 at least. the temps are CPU 44/111 deg and the System is 33/ deg

I had to load core center to see what it said, but it is the same 44 and 33 deg.

Thats with the side open, as I am tinkering again.

Your temp seems fine.

Cheers

Jocko ....

there is a rough guide to installing the Realtek NIC on the PlanetAMD64 site .. the driver is in xp64 but doesnt load automatically .. u have to manually find and choose it in the list .. mine works fine for internet but i cant access my home network thru it ..
