Hello guys,

Anyone with MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI motherboard; which M.2 SSD you use considering you don't experiance boot problems (random loss of M_1 or M_2 SSD)?

So far Samsung 990Pro 1TB/2TB and Samsung 980Pro 1TB/2TB has boot problems. I'm considering to get MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO 2TB -_-

Thank you in advance!

Update! Here is an interesting thing I noticed!

As long as I disconnect my 2 Samsung SATA SSDs (1TB and 2TB) it seems the boot problems are completely gone just like that.

I got my MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO 2TB so for now I will just try to use it as a data disk and disconnect all SATA SSDs. I don't wanna do Windows data migration -_-
Hi
I use multiple brands and never had any issues with Samsung. Samsung and WD are my top preference, but I also run MSI SSD in my MSI notebook and it works perfectly fine.
The only brand I had issues with was Seagate, I think that was compatibility as I tried 3 different models from them and all failed to work.

Some say it's Samsung problem, other say it's AMD's chipset problem and someone else think it's MSI's or a combination of them all. Great, amazing :D

Yes. It's never simple. It may also be an issue with the drive manufacturer or their firmware.

I found someone having exactly the same random boot porblem with Samsung 970 m.2 ssd in M2_1 and many more which is a tendency.

I presume MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO should work, I mean it's MSI's own brand and they surely have tested it with MPG x670e carbon Wi-Fi. They have, right? ...right? <_<

Maybe 🙈
I don't really know what's exactly wrong here. I don't think anyone can figure this out really, as one manufacturer will blame it on another.

I've got some crucial ones, some Intel ones, some Adata, Samsung, and a few others. no issues with any of them honestly.

Can also Verify that Lexar Seem to work without problems

This Drive is in M.2_2

Can also add Pioneer to the list of known working

Sounds great! Thank you for all the info Alan J T!

Also I have a feeling my MSI MPG x670e Carbon Wi-Fi doesn't possibly maybe like my Samsung SATA SSDs hmm... needs more testing.

I had great experiences with Kingston 3000 / Fury Renegade SSD's. They are rock solid and problem free even on AM5 platforms. Get the heatsink versions if your mainboard doesn't provide the cooling. Their software looks simplistic but for a one time per year open its whatever.

In my opinion Samsung SSD's in the last years have become problematic from the extra price brand premium they ask, to the mistakes in their nand batches / software problems (just google and read the horror stories) and overall incompatibilities with AMD platforms make me give them a hard no, they gotten way to over confident and comfortable for the mistakes they keep making, 0 reason in paying extra for their products, its not 10 years ago we got plenty of high quality options.

Also not a fan of the popular WD SSD's with their SanDisk nand that I don't fully care for. But that is more personal preference.

I am swapping to Corsair pcie5 and msi own brand drives.

I have/am using Samsung 990’s at the moment but I’m plagued with problems unfortunately.

A long history of Samsung SSD problems on AMD from AM3+, AM4 to AM5.

They should be fine I'm running two Samsung Sata III Drives

And four 2TB Crucial

And for you with this sata Samsung SSD have a read here hopefully you got a good batch and no issues.
