I've had a Duke RTX 2080 for about 6 years now. In that time, I've seen about 3 different MSI desktop apps, and none of them have worked correctly or at all well.
They refuse to boot when needed, boot when not requested, and when booted, do not function correctly. Currently, I am working with MSI Centre.
There are numerous posts on this same forum & reddit about how it just doesn't work. I can't get the app to even open anymore.
First, it tries to install itself every time I boot it again and loops indefinitely. This is a recorded issue documented as long as 4 years ago, and still MSI don't care enough to fix it.
Secondly. I finally managed to get into the app, and it throws an error about Windows Defender (Windows Defender is completely disabled on my system, and I am not running ANY anti-virus at all)
Then it closes and repeats the process, once again looping indefinitely. I should mention this same software worked with no system changes a year ago for me, till a patch by MSI broke it.
Personally, I think this is a joke that MSI are literally incapable of putting out working software. This hardware can cost upwards of £3,000 depending on what you buy from them, and it comes with bloatware that will mess around with your network & CPU and GPU clock timings, slowing down your system. All, even after it has been uninstalled, because it doesn't even uninstall correctly. They talk about Machine Learning Boost algorithms, but it's all just AI buzzwords and hype to get people to use the bloatware.
MSI has a market cap of £3.11 billion and has more than enough money to hire a capable team of developers to fix this. They simply chose not to because it won't return any profit to them. This is typical anti-consumer behaviour, and I advise anyone and everyone to move to ASUS going forward until they fix this shitshow at MSI. Asus make fantastic software to complement their hardware, and they actually care about their consumers.
TLDR: After shopping at MSI for 6 years - MSI DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, GO SHOP ELSEWHERE.
