Why were the system requirements changed to run the Graphics Fan Tool in MSI Center?

Ever since the latest MSI Center update to 1.0.38.0 the Graphics Fan Tool feature set will install but it doesn't run. After reading the current release notes I saw that it now says that it needs a PCIe 4.0 motherboard to work. It worked just fine before this update with my B450 Tomahawk MAX, which only has PCIe 3.0, and my MSI Twin Frozr RTX 2060 graphics card. Why the change and is there a way to prevent MSI Center from updating from 1.0.36.0 to the current version without disabling all Windows Store updates because all of the feature sets work just fine with that version but the Windows Store keeps updating it and breaking it again. I had to uninstall and reinstall it a few times to get Mystic Light working again too. This "update" is a mess it seems. Why do I like the Graphics Fan Tool? Because I enable it before I clean the dust out of the inside of my PC. It helps to blow it out. I see no reason for this change.

It happens to me exactly the same as to you... And I have solved it with Afterburner.

Thank you. It's just frustrating that several things that used to work in MSI Center now longer don't after the recent update.

This issue has no relationship with PCIe version.
It should work well on all Graphics Cards and Motherboards listed as supported, regardless of its PCIe version.

I have same issue since MSI Center has been updated to 1.0.38.0.
Version 1.0.36.0 was working well for my RX 5700 XT Gaming X.

Until now, no new updates to adress this issue.

Are you using dark mode by any chance? Try light mode.
MSI has tested this and they found if you use dark mode then graphics fan tool won't work.
They have also passed it to their software department to fix this.
Tool itself supports your hardware and is not related to PCIe 4.0 support.

I have given up on the current version and rolled back to 1.0.36.0. The Graphics Fan Tool wasn't the only part of MSI Center that quit working with the current update for me and if something like dark mode breaks it then they should pull the current update and go back to the drawing board. Dark mode has nothing to do with fan speed. Do they even test their software before releasing it? Ridiculous!

I have never heard of a software that claims it's bug free tbh. Dark mode has nothing to do with fan speed but graphics fan tool probably does, well, what's your fan speed problem now?

I have no issues now because I went back to an older version of MSI Center and blocked it from getting updates until they release a fix.

You're right.
I've tried light mode and Graphics Fan Tool tab is working on that mode on 1.0.38.0 version.
It really disapperars on dark mode.
It's a 1.0.38.0 bug.
And for sure, there's no bug free software.

Installed .38 again. Turned off dark mode. Still doesn't work. Wen back to version .36 and it works again.

After reading several other threads on here and on Reddit I decided to try one more time. I uninstalled .36 and rebooted, deleted all of the folders and files that were leftover because MSI Center doesn't uninstall cleanly, rebooted again, ran Disk Cleanup, rebooted again, reinstalled .38 using the Windows Store... now all is well again ONLY IF dark mode is off. As soon as I switch to dark mode things are missing or broken again but at least now I can get it working using light mode which I was unable to do before.

Now I will patiently wait for another update to this mess that fixes the dark mode error.

Graphics Fan Tool tab is still only working on Light Mode color profile.

This doesn't surprise me. MSI Center is just MSI Dragon Center with a different name. There's always been at least one feature not working correctly with every release. They might have the dark mode issue fixed by 2023 if we're lucky.

New version will be released soon, from what I heard.
If things still don't work, you'll need to completely uninstall MSI Center with the removal tool, switch to light mode, and install it fresh. 1.0.41.0 should fix the bug.

Another bug on 1.0.40.0, that didn't exist in the previous version, is that MSI Center GUI does not close when we click close ('X') button, but it just minimizes.
